I am a feral cat colony caretaker. Raccoons have been opening a container that has handles and opened another container (I didn't know raccoons have thumbs!) So, I went to Home Depot and bought a plastic tool kit that has two latches and i put a lock on it.

I went back today and they definitely attempted, you can slightly maybe get a finger but it's difficult.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can safely store their cat food. I cannot store the cat food inside because the cats are not in my backyard. I have to drive to feed them.

Any ideas would be helpful.

If you leave food out, the raccoons are relentless.  They will find a way to get to the food.  I would store the food in your care or just bring some with you each trip.  Once the raccoons get into the food, you will also attract other wild life.
