New guy at a feral feeder this morning. What does he look like?

He's certainly not feral and is very vocal. Announced his presence from within the weeds before presenting himself (typical of non-ferals). Thin, full of tics, infected eyes; normal stuff for a guy living the rough life.

The eyes may be blue, but I didn't notice. They were pink rimmed and looked a little inflamed, and I didn't even notice what color they were! I'll check tomorrow morning if he's back.

If they are blue, would that mean something?

He is a beauty and seems very sweet.

Blue would suggest he is of Siamese origin. No way to know if he's pedigree now since he's a stray unless he's chipped. The color pointing occurs due to a semi-albinism gene that causes the colder parts of the body (ears, nose, paws, tail) to darken up over time. The blue eyes are included in that gene. If the eyes are not blue, it is a pointed color but not Siamese. Although with how vocal you said he is, I'll put my money on him having blue eyes :)

Thank you so much for the explanation @ellieandwinnie !

I'm bringing topical flea/tic and eye meds tomorrow in hopes that he'll be back, but he's an intact male, so who knows. But if he's there I'll certainly check his eye color then.

He does have blue eyes. One question about the color pointing... his paws are white. Would that be an indication that he is not a pedigree?

He's such a pretty & friendly guy, I might actually be able to find a home for him. Chipping is a rare thing around here, but I'll have him checked.

I deal in ferals, strays, the abandoned and abused. Not too often I come in contact with "fancy" kitties
. As you can tell, I know nothing about them.

My standard operating procedure is spay/neuter. So, if he's not chipped and none of the vets have him on their "Lost" board, such will be his fate, too, fancy kitty or not!

Right, Spaying / neuter is the key.  Adoption if possible, but spaying / neuter prio nr 1.  The ONLY exception is if you think its a purebred, and someones breeding animal, and you hope to find this owner.    It does happens they get lost during transport to a Show or to a mating.  Not common, but it happens, I know of several examples just in the small world of russian blues in Scandinavia...

Re the white feet.  No,  it doenst means much by itself.  There are breeds where socks are allowed, or even expeceted.  For example, with Birma, they shall have socks.

Ragdolls usually shall not have white feet, unless they are "mitted"...  Snowshoe are shorthair, and based siameses - so they shall have white feet.

Althoug, for me, he doesnt looks as any show quality of any recognized breed, at least, too shorthaired for birma or ragdoll, and too fatty for someone who is supposed to be emaciated - as the shorthair siameses are supposed to be slender.  Still he may be a stud from some BYB breeder.  Thus, let the vet do his job.   :)

Tx for caring and wanting to help him.

@StefanZ the white feet are caused by the white spotting factor correct? It is a gene separate from the semi albinism gene in points?
I suppose so.   Its surely another gene than the point gene.

But for your firsp part of te question - make sure before you take my  "I suppose so" for granted.  Im really not that good at color genes hereditary.

Is this breed subject to allergies?

This morning his eyes were noticeably swollen again and he was salivating excessively. He did not appear weak or unstable.

I treated him with fipronil (Frontline) last week, and there was no reaction at the time.

Should probably start a new thread, but I'm at work and this is easier & faster. Any help is appreciated!

Yes, ask in health-forum.

I dont think this gene combination has anything to do with allergies or not...

in such cases the really best is to post in the appropriate forum, here the Health forum,

I mean, if I know an adequate answer, I try to answer, be it here and now.   But when I dont know, so I dont want to do stupid guesses just to write something.   IF Im guessing, I want it to be a sound guess.

And because I dont know on this question, I prefer not to answer.

But in the Health forum, there are folks whom specialize on heatlh problems...  And thus, a better chance for you to get adequate answers..  As simply as that.

Sadly, he was FeLV positive and the drooling and thinness was a result of that. I should have recognized it for what it was as lately I've had too much experience with that awful disease. I had him euthanized.

RIP pretty boy.
