Probably no one really noticed but I've been gone for close to 4 days! We had a HUGE snow storm here Christmas afternoon and night. We got 24 inches in the valley and 5-8 FEET in the mountain areas. And it ain't over yet. We have another storm on its way and will get another 12-15 inches.

Something like 80,000 people didn't have power and some still don't. I was lucky as far as power but my cable broadband internet and TV were out. There was so much snow around my car I couldn't even open the doors! This storm was #2 for record snowfalls in a 24 hour period. Anyway, I'm SOOOOOOOOO glad to have my internet back!

Right here! :)
Welcome back!
Wow! What a snow! It´s terrible to lose the internet and the tv! It´s so cosy to snuggle in the sofa with hot cocoa or tea, some cookies or chocolate in a snowy snowy weather, and WATCH TV! I hope you had something nice on video or dvd

I had some DVD's around. And I borrowed the first two Lord of the Rings movies since I hadn't seen them yet. I did some more crafts and slept a lot too!

That takes me back to some of the big blizzards of my childhood. Right now we're worried about rain. I'm sure you've all heard about the mudslides in San Bernadino county, they're upping their emergency crews out here for the next few days because we're supposed to have a heavy storm coming in tonight (MzJazz--you'll be getting this next so don't get too excited about digging out yet).

Actually I noticed you weren't posting lately. The snows great. Grab some gear and go run around in it! Or even better strap a sled onto an SUV and have someone pull you at high speeds! The only problem is the avalanches its brings with it.
Anyways welcome back,

Peace,
Brandon

Right after I posted this I lost my internet connection again. So it just came back up but I don't know how long I'll have it. It is still snowing here on and off. I have some pictures I'll post in a minute! Hopefully!

These first few were at around noon on the 26th. Rashid and his friend were shoveling the walk and the friend's car out! By 5:00 pm I had to shovel the walkway again and had another 10 inches or so of snow.

These pictures were a couple hours later. Normally I can walk under those branches without bending over. Of course I'm short but still, you can see how distorted my tree is. Several of those branches are hanging by a thread and need to be cut. I also have a big old apricot tree in the back yard that has tons of broken branches.

Wow!

I haven't seen snow in years - you've more than made up for that with these photos.

Glad to have you back.

Yes we had tons of broken branches! All over the area! That's why we had so many power and utility problems. Sucks!

I was wondering where you were and thought you were busy . Never in my life did I think about that

Oh my goodness that is a lot of snow , that reminds me of germany when I was a child
. I am sure the snow did a lot of damage . I am sure glad I am here in georgia and not where you are . I sure would be a ice block by now . Just think about all the animals who did not had any shelter , the ferals and stray dogs . Oh gosh I need to look at some cute pictures now to get my mind of that .
I am just happy that you are ok . Please stay save now

Oy, I hate it when that happens. When we got a snowfall like that in Boulder, CO it took several years for the trees to come back to normal. I'm glad you're safe.

I know it's a real pain, but - the snow is beautiful right after it falls. I haven't seen a real blizzard since I moved here. Hope it stops, and that you don't have too much damage and inconvenience.

Wow!!! I think it's beautiful. I'm sure you all that had to suffer thru the snow storms don't, but to me, it looks just beautiful. I would have gone INSANE without TV and internet, though.

Mzjazz, we didn't loose power. The snow in your area looks pretty bad. I heard that anyone north of I-80 got a lot more snow than us though. Im not that far south though, just about 25 min. south on 15 of SLC. Im just really going to sit the snow out though, the roads are too dangerous to drive on for me. I already almost planted myself in the barriers on 15, so I decided home for me right now.

I sure hope it clears up soon,

Peace,
Brandon

Glad you're back! I wish I could see snow again. Normally winter here is snowy or wet..this year it's warmer than normal. I'm so happy you posted some pics! I've never seen that much snow! How many inches is that! Here it's not normally more than 4 inches ever!
