Wow! You can move the babies for her when she's done, and she should follow.

The mother refuses to feed the runt. Until I can get kittens milk can it survive off of cows milk?

I'll see what I can do. I did put it up to the nipple but it seems more like its refusing to eat. And while the other kittens fur is nice and fluffy its is still nasty.

Wipe the kitten down and get it clean. If you can feed the baby long enough to get it strong, it will hopefully take to a nipple soon.

You need to pick up a 1mL syringe from a pharmacy also.

Do you need feeding instructions?

The baby needs to eat as soon as possible - 1-2 mL every hour around the clock.

Will she let the baby stay with the litter? It needs to stay warm.

No, I've fed a kitten before. But it was easier because it was older. Thank you for all the help

If she won't let the baby stay, it will need to have a water bottle or heating pad set on low under a blanket.

You feed it on its tummy, head up like it feeds from mom. One to two drops in the side of its mouth at a time.

Oh, I just saw your post. Do you know how to stimulate it to wee and poo if mom won't do it? I also added a few more comments above.

One of us is almost always around, so let us know how it's going or if you have further questions.

The runt is refusing to eat, what should I do about this? I'm worried about the little one.

You mean he is refusing to eat kitten milk from a syringe?

You have to force feed, drop by drop, whether ke likes it or not. When he realizes it's milk and his tummy fills up he will feel better and feed better.

I'm unable to get kitten milk at this late hour, I'm just praying it can survive until tomorrow when I can. I live very far away from any pet stores

Is your cows milk lactous free?

Found this in a thread,  I don't know about this recipe but it looks like you can feed the kitten whole evaporated mile in a pinch?

Home-made kitten formula (Kitten Glop)

  • 8 ounces water (boiled then cooled)
  • 1 envelope Knox unflavored gelatin
  • 8 ounces whole evaporated milk (not skim)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (not low fat)
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt (not low fat)
  • 1 large or 2 small eggs yolks (raw)
  • 1 teaspoon clear Karo syrup
  • * 1-3 drops liquid pet vitamins
  • * 1 capsule acidophilus
  • * 1 drop Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE)
  • * Optional, though very beneficial.
Boil the water, add the gelatin and mix well. Add the following ingredients in order, mixing well after each addition:

1/2 of the canned milk
Mayonnaise and Yogurt
Rest of the milk
All other ingredients

You can substitute canned goat's milk for the canned evaporated milk, if you prefer it. This mixture will keep in the fridge for up to four days. It is jello-like in consistency in the fridge so you can just scoop out as much as you need and warm. It can also be frozen in ice cube trays and defrosted as needed. You can find pet vitamins at a pet store or your vet, and acidophilus and GSE in the liquid form at a good health food store.

Here is the link to the article I found it in.  http://www.kitten-rescue.com/what_to_feed.html

hanjisnk hanjisnk He may not make it.

You can also mix evaporated milk, an egg, and a spoonful of honey or karo syrup together and feed this. Do you have an eye dropper?

This kitten must eat. You must get food into this kitten. It needs to eat through the night as well.

He may get strong enough to suckle with just a few feedings.

If you have no evaporated milk, then use cow's milk but dilute it with a little water. Cats cannot digest lactose well and it can cause diarrhea, but something is better than nothing.

I just noticed he still has part of the umbilical cord attached, could this be part of the problem?

If the cord is really long you can snip it shorter, but it will dry up and fall off in a few days.

Does the mom lick and stimulate the runt when you put him in with her? Can you see if he will latch again?

He will need more food through the night if he doesn't nurse.
