Need advice please. Very sad. Miss Minnie-Kitten is 19 years old. She was vomiting and not eating so I took her to the vet. We did blood and urine tests and they an extremely healthy cat in every way except liver enzymes. She weighs 12 pounds. I was told she cannot have any grains and now she only gets holistic grain free foods. Lucky if she eats a tablespoon a day at this point, sometimes opening several cans in hope she will eat. Her currant kick is fish only.
The vet prescribed Denamarin. A huge blue tablet. I coat it in butter and administer it but with this cat it is a battle. She has bitten me accidentally, she runs, hides and hates me. The holistic animal shop suggested their formula which has herbs like milk thistle in an alcohol smelling base. This is 2 drops a day 4 times a day. I mix it with a bit of fish oil. She regurgitates it and foams up at the mouth from this. Meows and hides from me and hates me.
Minnie is my best friend and I hate the fact that she is near end of life and without the medicine she will die sooner. I hate that she is miserable for having to take the medicine.

If you have a compounding pharmacy nearby, perhaps they can make up a batch in a form more palatable to your cat.  It is expensive to have this done but sometimes it does make it easier for both you and your cat.  Pilling some cats can be night impossible, as I know from experience.   And it is terrible to see how much they hate it and then to see them hide from us at such a time.  I hope for the best for you and Miss Minnie-Kitten but it sounds like she has lived a very long and happy life, remember you made that possible for her.

I am not familiar with this pill, however is it crush able?  If you can crush it maybe you can try mixing it with a little baby food/water and syringe it.  I am having to do that with any medication I get for our kitties that comes in pill form.  Good luck

This pill cannot be crushed. It has a coating to protect the throat. I am a pharmacy tech and we cannot compound this particular drug. There is nothing comparable that humans take according to the pharmacist. I am going to call a speciality compound pharmacy tomorrow. Reeds Pharmacy in Tucson Arizona made beef flavored pills for my other cat's medicine. But Minnie doesn't like treats and barely eats. She walks like a very old girl too now. Poor kitty.
