My daughter took in an American Bobtail. She is about a year and a half. Today at 11:50am she gave birth to a kitten and another at 2:30pm. Mom and babies are doing beautifully. She stopped have contractions after the last kitten and has been sleeping, mothering and did eat a good bit of food. I can feel another kitten possibly two. Is this something to worry about or just wait it out to see what happens? The mom is not stressed or even appearing to still be in labor.

Unless the mother is in distress you don't need to worry.  Cats can deliver kittens w/long breaks in between.

Do you feel the kittens moving?  It could be her uterus.  It takes time to shrink back down to size.

There are some articles at top of this forum that you may find helpful.

Here is one from the Health forum that covers the basics.

Love the photo.  The kittens are a beautiful color.

1 more thing. Her first kitten was delivered in a nesting box. Then she moved it to my daughters bed and had the second kitten. I tried to get her back in the box and she is not having it. She wants to be on the bed. She also acts upset if my daughter gets out the bed. Is it normal for cats to want to keep them on a bed?
(All kittens and mom will be fixed as soon as they can be and will also be indoor pets at both of our homes)

Mother cats like to give birth with their favorite humans around.  I guess that's your daughter.  You may have to put up with it for tonight. Mama's can be very insistent.  Can you move the nest into your daughter's room?

One poster slept on the floor when her cat decided her bed was the place to give birth.

Keep us updated.

I went to check on the kittens this morning (my daughter lives in my back house) and there are still only two. They look good wiggling around and nursing like little pros. The mama cat still wants them on my daughters bed (we cleaned it all up after birth) the mama cat refuses to allow someone not being on the bed. She even made sure my daughter was right next to the kittens while she jumped down to eat and strech. I will be able to check Meow (mama cats name) better in a little while it was 5am when I went to check and I was trying not to wake my daughter since she has work soon. I will go stay back there when she leaves. I really thought she had 1 more kitten in there because it felt like kitten movement to me but Meow shows no signs of discomfort or labor. The vets here are no help except to say wait and see and there is nothing we can do for small kittens should problems arise.

That is really sweet.  A sure sign of trust on Meow's part the she is having your daughter baby sit the kittens while she does other stuff.

It's hard to tell if there are more kittens to come.  Some people can feel and see them moving and sometimes they are just seeing and feeling gas.  If Meow conceived on two different days she can have kittens a day or two apart.  But like your vet says you just have to wait and see.  (such helpful advice LOL)

Post more pictures when you get a chance.

My daughters cat gave birth yesterday to 2 kittens. Just now she had some bleeding and out came a small palm size meaty tissue. She ate it. Shes not acting as if shes in pain and she seems perfectly fine. Is that just afterbirth? (She did deliver both placentas with the other 2 kittens)

She is most likely ok.  A call to the vet is always a good idea even if it's just to ease your worry.

It was likely afterbirth. She will probably be fine. Some spotting is normal for a few days after giving birth, but if she seems unwell then call a vet.

She now moved away from the kittens and is licking her stomach and bottom area a lot. Still some bleeding too. I am still waiting for the vets call back.

Make sure the kittens are warm enough.  You can use a heating pad set on low (covered), a hot water bottle (covered) or a sock filled with raw rice, microwaved for 5 minutes and covered.  The heat source shouldn't heat the whole area, make sure the kittens can move off it if they get too warm.

It's possible she may deliver another kitten or fleshy thing.

I wonder if she has another kitten to deliver.

How much bleeding is there?

It's good you called the vet.

The bleeding stopped. She still is acting ok. My problem is she keeps laying away from her 2 kittens. I put the kittens by her and she nursed them and is still with them now. The vet said if shes not distressed no need for alarm. Im calling another vet this morning. I honestly feel like she has another kitten maybe two. She just looks like shes still pregnant. I know she wont be back to her skinny self right away but this doesnt look like shes done.

I can not find a vet that is open at all today. The animal hopsital vet from last night would not see her last night or today because he feels it's not a emergency. I'm so worried about the mom cat and her kittens.

If the mom seems OK, etc, you can almost surely wait, even if you kNOW there are still kittens inside.

The problem though may be, having still delivery in progress, she isnt interested much in her already born kittens.  And its this y ou must perhaps step in with.

I agree with Stefan. No need to panic if she is acting normally. If she does have more kittens, her body will deliver them when it's time.

Is she nursing her kittens well today?

She is nursing them but only if I put them by her. She then nurses, cleans and falls asleep with them.
