Food change diarrhoea - when to expect improvement?

Last Friday, I bought my kitten a new box of her usual wet food. She suddenly seemed off it, and only ate a fraction of what she usually would, but was eating her dry food. At the same time, her stools became a little soft, but she seemed her normal self so I didn't worry too much. After four/five days of not eating normally, I decided to change her food, thinking maybe that batch of her usual was dodgy or she just didn't fancy it any more. So I switched to a different brand entirely, which she loved and devoured, but the next day her stools were like silly putty - VERY squidgy and a pinky/orangey (the colour of her food...). The next day her stools were totally watery, so I whisked her off to the vet, who advised it will have either been the change of food, or something in the new food itself that upset her tummy. She advised to put her back on her old food for a couple of weeks, then make the change gradually.

Problem is, she still won't eat the old food... I bought a new box of it (due to the "Maybe it's dodgy somehow" theory, but she doesn't want that either. Again, she's still having dry food and is drinking lots of water (thank goodness). Going to cook her some plain chicken so she's got something more substantial in her tummy, but not sure what to do in terms of the rest of her food. Keep going with the old food even though she's barely touching it and still his diarrhoea? Or push through with the new food until her poo sorts itself out (assuming it's not an intolerance to the food)?

Sorry, I'll summarise:

Cat went off usual wet food.

Cat was given different wet food.

Cat loved different food.

Cat developed diarrhoea.

Cat went to vet, advised to go back to old food.

Cat still off old food and barely touching it.

Cat still has diarrhoea.

My questions are what I should do about her food, and how soon can I expect her diarrohea to improve? The vet gave me a probiotic which she's been having, but there's very little improvement so far.

I don't know the answer to your question but am bumping in hopes someone else does.  Hopefully in the 2 days since you've posted your poor kitty is showing some improvement.

Couple of questions:

1:  how hold is this kitten?

2)  what is the brand and flavor of the old food that she doesn't like any more?

3) what is the brand and flavor of the new brand which she loves but is giving her diarrhea?

4)  what is the dry food (brand and flavor) that she is eating?

5)  how is she doing with just the boiled chicken?  Are you adding white rice to that mixture?

6)  is that probiotic the Vet gave you FortiFlora?
