Sorry but I do not know how to describe it other than that. About 4 times in the last 2 weeks my 12 year old neutered male  has a small cluster of what looks like a frothy/bubbly mess in his litter box and outside. It looks someone took a blob of dishwashing soap bubbles. He has hyperthyroidism which is under control but at his last medical they found that he had slight renal problems but not too much to worry about. They gave him a supplement called Aventix KS and to me this problem started when he started taken the supplement.

I have a funny feeling I posted this recently but could not find it in my previous posts. If so I am sorry.

You can find your other pots by going to your profile, but I did find the post you were talking about.

[thread="301814"][/thread]

I remember reading the original post - did you ever hear back from your vet?

I remember seeing something similar with my cats but it was so long ago that the memory is extremely vague, however if it is any comfort, they both lived well into their senior years, although one had a mild case of kidney disease. I'm not sure which cat was responsible and I seem to recall it was temporary. I mention this because you said your cat also has slight renal issues. My boy Wesley with slight renal issues lived to be 19.

I hope you hear back from your vet soon.

Sorry for double posting. I had emailed the manufacturer saying the same thing and got confused. No I have not heard from the vet but am expecting to soon. She works Thursday on.

I would take him back for another consult but its $75 plus 12% tax each time I go. I am surprised they have not charged me for replying to my emails.

I tried to reply last night but had trouble accessing this site.

Thanks.

$75.00 plus tax is steep - I pay half that and no tax. But my vet isn't available by email either so you might be the one getting the bargain.

I'll be interested to hear what the vet says.

She is the first vet that I have used who responds to emails. But it might not last forever. I can see a "bring him in" for a consult coming up. There is tax on everything including food and meds.

If you think that is steep you should hear what they charge for neutering. My four rabbits cost me $250 each (plus tax) and I had a special price because my sanctuary work. When I worked in a Texas sanctuary we got neuters and spays for $50 each. I would take in half a dozen rabbits at a time.

$2250 to spay a rabbit does sound pretty expensive.  I once had a New Zealand white female rescued from a lab setting. Rabbits are great.

Please let me know what the vet says.  I hope you won't have to wait too much longer.

It was $250. May have made a typo. Rabbits are great and have taken care of 180 at one time in the sanctuary. They do not get the respect they deserve.

Yikes!  What a typo!  I was on my phone.  Sorry about that.

Yes rabbits are pretty wonderful.
Pete (that was our girl rabbit's name) (blame the kids) hopped around the house with the dog and the cats but chewed wires so had to be caged a lot of the time.

180 rabbits!  That's a lot of work!

I heard from another vet on Sunday (today) as Tom's vet was on vacation. She asked questions about his urination habits which seemed to her to be normal. She wondered if the bubbles were from a powerful blast of urine but I could not say.

She also mentioned the Aventix which she presumed was prescribed because of an on set of kidney problems. Apparently there is no time line for kidney disease. Once it starts it could go to extreme in a month or even years. There is no cure but there are meds to help.

So I will be observing him as always and loving him dearly because nobody knows what the future will hold regarding his health.

Thanks for all the input.

Well, I'm sorry you're having problems with the site.  It shouldn't be so hard to post a comment on your thread. It's just a matter of using the reply box and hitting 'submit'.  But I believe you - i've had problems with other sites that other people seem to use with no problems so am aware of this phenomenon.

I hope Tom lives a nice long life free of any major health issues.  And if  he does have any kidney issues, I hope that he makes it to at least 19 years, like my Wesley did.
