Remember a while back when we were talking about adult coloring books and coloring as a stress-reliever? Well, last night, I was sitting at the kitchen table, coloring a page I had printed from Pinterest and my sister came in. She stopped dead and said, "Really? REALLY?" I told her to shut up and sit down. So we sat there chatting for a while, and, suddenly she got up from the table, poured herself a Smirnoff Ice, sat back down, grabbed a coloring page, picked out some crayons, and started to color. I didn't say a word. We sat there, chatting about absolutely nothing and colored for almost two hours. We couldn't believe the time had gone by that quickly. It might have been even longer, had her DH not called and said, "I thought you were coming right back!" Rick was back on the computer, working on some union stuff and he didn't come out the entire time we were there. We didn't even realize that it had gotten dark. It was a very nice night and it was a nice change from being on the go all night long.

Pinterest has some neat coloring pages, if anyone is interested.

I need to get some nice colored pencils, too. My sister said so.

So your sister is a convert hah?   How come she isn't going to go get the pencils for you?

A couple of years back I bought one of those adult colouring books (one copy for me and one for my niece's 23rd birthday).   Everyone in my family thought I was nuts but now you see this book everywhere and there's even a sequel.  I've been using really lovely, fine tip colouring pens but want to go find some pencils as well but gee they are expensive!

Doing something together rather than sitting watching tv or talking about same old things over and over is amazing, I agree.  Time passes so differently.

My in-laws came for a visit last weekend.  FIL was sitting at the breakfast bar and I was chatting with him from in the kitchen.  MIL was at the table with my DD.  All of a sudden FIL gets quiet and starts motioning toward MIL.  DD had run off and left MIL coloring all by herself. MIL heard the quiet and looked up and started laughing.  I brought her out one of my Dover coloring books.

Here's an dult coloring book featuring cats

Adult coloring books are "trendy" now. I should get a book or two and some crayons or colored pencils.

I ordered that one among some other ones, too. Should get here by the end of next week.

Kind of along the same lines - are there small adult coloring books (not like magazine-size but half the size of that or less) and boxes of colored pencils or crayons available? I'm toying with the idea of giving out small coloring books with a small box of colored pencils or crayons as prizes to my walk challenge team.

I have a few coloring books for myself.  I sent my sister one with a set of colored pencils to keep her entertained and/or relaxed while she's recuperating from hip replacement surgery.  She thought I was crazy but she tried a couple of pages and said she really enjoyed it!

This is the one I bought when it first came out.
That cat one looks really nice, I'll have a look to see if I can find that one locally.

The closest thing I've ever had to an adult coloring book: The gangsta rap coloring book, and The punk rock coloring book! (Bought as gag gifts.) (Check Amazon.)

There are so many brands colored pencils out there these days. I remember way  back when I was kid I had a bsic set of Crayola colored pencils. Nowadays you can get a set of 100+ pencils in a huge rainbow assortment of colors (!)

It looks like some people use art markers or gel pens to color in pictures instead of pencils but I guess it's just preference. I think it's easier to do shading with pencils than with markers or pens. And there's something about sharpening a pencil that is gratifying

Off to find a book or two on Amazon now

Last night, I ordered a couple of adult coloring books from Amazon, Crayola Colored Pencils and a sharpener! The Cat book is sold out. I am on a waiting list for it. I will get the others some time this week.

I could have gone to the local Target or a toy store to get some, but ordering it means that I can feel as if I have a "present' coming for me!

It is the little things in life...

Althought  these "toys" will mean I will have less computer time and much less time to devote to housework!!!!
  I will be too busy!!!

So true
I have two other packages to look forward to next week - clothes from Target to wear to the fitness center and two new pairs of short pants from Loft.

Is it The Creative Haven Creative Cats one? I ordered it on Amazon (using the Amazon Smile site so the charity of my choice gets a donation) last night along with another coloring book, colored pencils (I got a fancy Prismacolor set), and a pencil sharpener
The listing as of right now says the book is in stock but may take an extra day or two to process. I hope I get one of the Amazon Minion boxes this time

Please pardon me. I think I was half asleep, also watching TV (The Man in the Grey Flannel Suite -movie with Gregory Peck) when I wrote my last post.

Yes, that coloring book in in stock, but may be a day or 2 late in delivery. I also ordered one, stress relievers for adults!!

I am jealous!
! I was seriously considering the prismacolor set, but could not justify the price it, yet, for this.....crayolas will have to do for now.. I got the 50, I think!!

As I said, I was half asleep when I ordered....who know  what else I may have ordered......
gotta go check out my order!!!! LOL

Something fun to look forward to

Those Prismacolor sets are gorgeous, aren't they? I'm not sure what all is coming in from Amazon; they said it was coming in two shipments. One book is held-up, maybe it's the cat one.

I bought a Crayola set of 192 crayons a while back and mentioned before have been working on designs from Pinterest that I've found and printed. The Amazon stuff should come in fairly soon. One of those orders will have the 50 colored pencils. I'd like to get a nice set or markers, too, but we'll see how things go. I like markers. Rick said he'd buy me a nice art set this year for Christmas; I think he was kidding as he just kind of looked at me when I said, "OK! Cool!"

I've always been a bit of a doodler. I go to meetings and take notes, but my papers are always marked up with all kinds of doodles and drawings and such. My boss saw my "notes" one time and asked, "So where are the actual notes???"

You know, I can snack when I'm on the computer. I can certainly snack when I'm reading a book. But interestingly, I do NOT snack when I'm coloring. Go figure. I may have a glass of wine or a Smirnoff Ice with me. But I don't even think about snacking. Maybe that's a good thing. Of course, I'm sitting a lot when I'm coloring, too. But I find it very relaxing to sit and color.

I've been using pens with the book I have but reading here I've decided to treat myself to some pencils and going to order some Staedler ones that are on offer here in UK.  Might try a new colouring book as well.  I'm hoping one of my housemates can check the ones out that she has at her work and if any are on nice paper she will be able to get it with discount so same as Amazon pricing.  I hadn't realized how popular colouring had become since I bought the book I have!  What a choice there is now.
