when my cat was sick and wouldn't eat, my vet told me to use tuna water as a enhancer or crush temptation treats where it is fine like salt and sprinkle it on the food. Both worked. Also my cat loves the fancy feast broths, try using the broth to flavor the food. When my cat gets picky and turns his nose up at his food, i will put a small amount of the broth on the food and he laps it up.

Has anyone ever tried any of the Wysong supplements?  You could use them as toppers -   http://wysong.net/cat-dog-supplements.php                                              I was thinking about trying the Cheezyme one -   anyone have any feedback on those?

I have used Wysong's F-Biotic as a topper and my Boo LOVES it. Unfortunately, I determined later that he has a possible allergy to both poultry and yeast (brewer's, nutritional, etc.), so I am no longer able to use this as a topper.

I've also used Stella and Chewy's Savory Salmon & Cod Meal Mixers for Dogs. I crushed and sprinkled one or two little nuggets over wet food. It literally smells like fish food flakes.

Another successful topper in my house is Orijen Wild Boar freeze-dried treats crushed and sprinkled over food.

My cat also has IBS and during his last bad flareup my vet gave me Purina FortiFlora packets to mix in with his wet food. She said that it has similar flavor enhancers to the ones in dry foods that make them so enticing/addicting for cats. After my supply ran out I bought a bulk box of packets on Amazon since no prescription is needed and give some to him at least once/week.

Prior to that the vet tried this thick paste to either mix in with the food or give it right to him if he likes it. It was one of those high calorie ones so even if he didn't eat much food he could still get more nutrients. He didn't like it though and could tell when I mixed it in with the food. Thankfully the vet gave me a sample size to try it out at home first before having to buy a full tube of it. Obviously talk to your vet about these options prior to trying them out.

Ive seen elsewhere someone suggested using a coffee grinder on some dry food to encourage a cat to start eating wet. Don't know if this is possible in your circumstances?

Thanks all for the great tips. I will look into them. The dry food crumbled does work but I'm going look into some of the others suggested.

One of mine loves natural hairball gel (NaturVet, I think) with the catnip flavor. I put a tiny amount (1/4tsp) on his food to encourage eating if need be. They both respond well to freeze dried turkey or chicken; I like the Uncle Larry or Whole Life products. When they were younger they loved Greenies treats in the salmon flavor. I wasn't happy about feeding this one, but had a sample, and if you have to get your pet to eat.....good luck!
