Hi everyone I'm desperate for advice. My kitty is 8 weeks old I've had him for 5 days and I've noticed small specs of brown in his ears. I've researched that these might be ear mites however he doesn't scratch himself doesn't shake his head he is so docile and calm. Could it be just ear was. We have an appointment with the nurse on Thursday as I'm stressing out as I have a 3 year old son. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you

it could be just dirt seeing its a young kitten. Take a damp cotton ball of water and gently rub the ears and see if it comes off.

Might be ear wax. Ear wax can be honey colored or black-ish and tends to be a little sticky. Take a damp cottom ball or washcloth and swab it inside the ear. The stuff should come off. If it doesn't, ask the vet about it when you take your kitten for the typical kitte vaccinations and check up.

What color is your kitten? Dark colored cats may have dark pigmentation in their ears, even on their nose and gums and inside the mouth as they get older, and that's perfectly normal
Kind of like freckles.

It could also be a bacterial infection, as these often look like ear mites. Did you get the kitten from a shelter? Often, that's where they get these infections from. No big deal. Have the vet check it out, and he/she will prescribe the appropriate medication. You'll have to clean the ears out and apply several drops twice a day. Solves the problem within a week :)

Thank you so much everyone he is my first kitten. He is a ginger kitten. And I got him from a pet shop. If it is ear mites what do I do with furniture etc will they be on that? I'm recovering from OCD. I can't get over how affectionate cats are he is so docile and always licking my nose and cuddling up to me I am a total cat convert now x
