Hi, Sunday evening my beautiful cat rose gave birth to two equally as beautiful kittens! It's her first ( and only) litter. Even though I'd kept a lookout for any signs of labour none seemed to appear, one minute she was sat in my dining room, the next she kind of meowed and chirruped and trotted upstairs to her nesting box ( which she'd previously shown little interest in!). She wanted me there during her labour, which in total lasted three and a half hours with fourth five minuets between each birth. She did so well, I could not belive how much instinct my beauty had!

So, today they are just coming up to two days old. This morning rose ( mummy cat) moved her babies from the nesting box to under my bed ( still in same room) but she didn't stay there with them, she laid at the foot of the bed. Since she has gone under the bed to feed and cuddle them, I have left her to it. I'm.feeding her wet kitten food, water and kitten formula. Is there anything else I can be doing for her, and are there any signs to look out for that she maybe rejecting them? Also I was going to start weighing them from this evening onwards, how much is a sufficient daily gain?
Any advice would be greatfully received!

Everything seems to be going well.  Glad you are prepared and have all your supplies.  the minimum weight gain is 6-10 grams or .2 - .4 ounces a day.  they can gain more.

We'd love to see some pictures.

I tried weighing them, but the scales I have are slightly on the small side, and mum promptly took the kitten off and back under the bed! I'm going to get a larger set tomorrow.
Rose definetly seems more settled with her babies now though, apart from coming out for her own dinner, she has stayed under the bed with them!
I think I was being a bit of an overbearing grandma!

I'll post weights as soon I can tomorrow. They are looking fuller and considering they don't walk they sure can move along quick!

Yes, they can scoot along pretty well. It sounds as though all is good though! :)
