I am feeding my kitten IAMS Premium Kitten (Canned) Food and Simply Nourish Kitten Cat (Dry) Food. According to their labels, i should be feeding him 3 x 1/3 cup of dry food and 1.5-2.5 cans of wet food daily (because my kitten weighs around 2.6lbs). However, he does not eat that much. Probably, I don't know how to balance wet and dry food.

I give my kitten 1/2 can a day (divided into 3 feedings) and he wastes 1/4th of it. (I wash it after 20 minutes.) According to the labels, he should be having that much per feeding! But i can't get him to finish that much in 1 whole day!

I poured 3 x 1/3 cups of dry food 2 days ago and my kitten has not finished that yet either. (But i am going to replace it every 24 hours from now onwards)

Vet said he's completely normal. He's going to the litter normal; weighs normal; plays normal; everything seems to be normal physically. (His fecal test came out normal too.)

I got him from a shelter when he was 9 weeks old. He's currently 11 weeks old. What should i do to make him eat more?

(He seems to love the canned food. He goes crazy as soon as i bring it. I don't think changing to another brand would help.)

With growing kittens I believe  you can let them eat as much as they want .. I don't think there is really a set amount .Since he likes the wet food so much maybe you can give a can of wet for breakfast  , one for lunch  , and set out a serving of kibble in the evening and see how he does with that .

How old is your kitten? My estimate by weight is 10-12-ish weeks old?

Kittens under 16 weeks or so are likely to eat 4-5 small meals a day. Their stomachs just can't hold more than a small amount of food at a time.

So, instead of feeding him every 8 hrs, you could try every 6 hrs and see if he eats more. Doing 3 wet meals and 1 dry for overnight since he seems to like the wet the best.
