So me an my husband recently got our cay spayed 11 days ago. she just got off the cone a couple days ago an she is all fine but recently ive been noticing her nose fur on the top is all looking dried an well I just thought its all her food she has been eating while she was on the cone but when I cleaned her nose it didnt seem to do much but show a dark black look to it. Which was not there before she got spayed.
Also she isnt an outdoor cat she is always inside.

Here is a picture. Sorry for it being blurry.

Looks to me like she's got a few scratches on her nose which have healed. Is the black stuff dried blood? If her nose is healed and not bleeding, I wouldn't want to fuss with it, if she seems fine. Does she scratch at it at all?

An no not from when I watch her. She usually just cleans herself there thats about it

Have you taken him to the vet? It's impossible to diagnose from a photo, and besides, we're not vets here. Getting him properly checked over is the best advice I can offer.

Yes im aware but someone may have encounter the same problem. Plus a friend of ours says it might be anxiety seeing she did just get spayed not long ago.

How long ago did you first post the first pic?

How old is this cat?

@catwoman707 : looks like their first pic was about a week ago

@Innocentefleur : if it's getting worse, I would take her in. I can't imagine that the spay would effect her nose in any way other than stressing her to a point that made her immune system vulnerable to illness? This could be a skin infection on the nose, or something more complicated, but she should go to the vet so they can figure it out.

Good luck with your adorable cat! <3

I agree, her being outdoors with a white nose, I wouldn't fool around.

I have seen too much cancer on noses and ears than I care to think.

Starts out like dirty, or darker/dry, maybe scabby, and goes from there, the longer it continues the harder it is to get.

If it is cancer (squamous cell sarcoma is skin cancer) the skin can actually be removed and she will recover, but the longer you wait, well, they can't take half her nose off, so I would take her in asap.

How old?

I forgot about skin cancer...! Yeah, definitely take her in to rule that out especially. The good thing is that if it is something like that, it was caught rather quickly.

I would encourage strongly that your kitty to the vet to have this checked out. We cannot advise at this point other than that. It could be any number of things as something minor such as the skin on the top of the nose had been a bit bruised by the wearing of the cone and now the "scab" has come off OR something much more serious. Too many things all in between to mention so the best bet is a vet check and please do report back to us on your beautiful cat. We hope it all turns out to just be something very easily treated and again, I am thinking that possibly it could be from irritation and rubbing from the cone causing edema under that part of the skin on the nose which would cause the skin to scab off after so many days time but only a vet can confirm this! :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

The fact that she is so young makes me think it's something else, but it can be some sort of infection or who knows what, so I would def. have it looked at as soon as you possibly can, anytime there is something that is not healing, it deserves to be examined closer.
