My Simon is still at the vet. He got unblocked on his own yesterday, but they had to catheterize him today. Poor baby. The vet said his urine was perfect but did say that I will have to change his diet to include wet food. (She said wet and dry was OK)

What do you feed your kitties that are prone to blockage? I will be talking to my regular vet soon, but I wanted to see what everyone here thought.

Thanks!

There are a number of prescription diets for cats with urinary problems now. Most come in both dry & canned. There are also some home recipes as well.Your vet will guide you on the diet depending on what the initial urine samples showed. You may want to ask about trying just samples of a couple of foods to see what he likes best. Encouraging him to drink is important too.

My vet recommended Purina ONE for urinary tract health. She also recommended Science Diet but I can't seem to find it at my local store. Increasing the canned food and water are important.

My vet recommended a fountain rather than a bowl for water. You can find them in any good pet supply store such as Petsmart. They're not noisy. I never hear mine unless its running low on water. They come in several different sizes and flows. Some have a waterfall effect and some have a spout of water. It took a short time for my cats to get used to it but now they love it.
