Hi all! Long time since I have been in here. Here is the issue. I have a momma feral cat and 3 babies about 12 weeks old in my catio. Mama and two babies are tame and coming around nicely. Yes vet checks and all that. One baby is not very tame. I have been working extra hard with him but I sill cannot pick him up. I can pet him while eating and all but he is fast as lightening when I try to pick him up. Somebody wants to give hims home but lives in No. Cal. I in in So. Cal. She has even bought him a ticket to fly up in a cat carrier under passenger seat, I don't know if I can do this, he will be so scared. Any advise?

The main problem I see with this is that most airports make you take cats OUT of their carriers at the security point so they can check the carrier in the xray machine. I don't know how this would work with a cat that cannot be handled since he would have to be out of the carrier for a while when the carrier went through the machine.

Thank you New York! I did not know that! That is very good to know! Well I pretty much told her It probably is not going to happen anyway. I can't imagine how scary for kitty. Thanks for that important info!

Actually, they fly okay.  Cats don't usually like any sort of transportation because it is change.  Flying your kitten for a few hours will be no different to it than a long car ride.  He will be scared but he will adapt.

Tricky thing about cat carrier, though.  I would call the airline and ask them how they would handle an animal that doesn't allow handling.  The kitten really needs a loving home so I'd go for it if the airline will.  I know that all sorts of animals are flown every day that are not able to be handled so there must be some sort of system in place.

Is there anything the vet can prescribe to chill the cat out for the journey?

Yes, but I would not use on a kitten or a cat that is unattended.  My opinion is the kitten will be fine without it.
