Can you email these pictures to them and ask if they can see her right away and let them know it's green, watery diarrhea? You need to specifically tell them that you can pay on Friday and see if they will let you do that after they see the pictures. I am very concerned for your kitten.

It's good that the kitten is still eating and playing.

You don't need to syringe feed these kittens anymore if they are four weeks old. They should be able to feed themselves mush and be shown a small litter pan now.

Please give us an update after you speak with the vet in the morning. I know how hard you are trying with the kittens, but this needs to get resolved before Friday.

yea, poor girl. :( but i cleaned her up tonight some and put some A&D cream on her and it looks a lot better.

she's not the one that had bloody stool, her brother did, but she's consistently had diarrhea the entire time i've had her. the vet told me that it was to be expected since we're bottle feeding them and that they didn't seem dehydrated (last time she checked, abt two weeks ago).

but it's green and watery, despite the pro-pectalin she's still on. i haven't seen her have any outside of when i stimulate her after feedings, so i want to think it's only after feedings that she has the diarrhea.

they're still on formula and the milkshake, today they started drinking water out of a tiny cat bowl too. should i try feeding her some dryer ground up cat food?
For cats and kittens with much diarrhea,   I always recommend pedialyte, bought or home-made.  Including forcefeeding if necessary.  (I will  paste in some suggestions from another tread I participated in recently).  Pedialyte helps them both with the loss of electrolytes, and is alos somewhat a stopper in itself.

Can you get hold of raw goat milk?  It is often pricey, but may do wonders with a bad stomach.  It may probably help wit the skin condtion too, put on the outside.

Otherwise, I see both Sarthur and Catwoman and Handsome Kitten, all three giving excellent advices and help.

Pedialyte, continuation.  Exactly which you give, depends on what you do have at hand.    Ask your neigbours for help, if the shops are closed!!!

If bought, the best is some unflavored baby version.   But if flavored are the only one at hand, you can use them to begin with.

Of homemade,  do you have mineral salt and glucose sugar = dextrose?  These salt respective sugar source are the best

If  you havent,  common kitchen sugar, and white caro syrup, or even honey, are OK.    Even common white sugar works, but much slower.

One basic receipt, is

1 litre water.   1,5 tea spoons salt  1,5-2 soup spoons  sugar source...  A little baking soda= bikarbonat, if you have.   Boil up, let it be room temp again. Use.   Dont spare too long.

Another is,   take some rice,  boil it too long, more than in a food recipe.

Use the water, add some salt.

My favorite at this moment, is you take a bottle of a good minerale water.  They contain lotsa of different, good salts and electrolytes.

You let the gas out, and add some sugar source, about half soup spoon  in a 33 ml bottle.   Be sure the sugar gets  diluted in there as it shall.

And voilá, you do have an excellent home made pedialyte...

Basic home made pedialyte is the main weapon against the great manslaughter  Cholera,  so dont underestimate this....

i've been mixing pedialyte with the formula for a lil over a week now, thanks stefanz!

i'll call them asap in about five hours, and let you know what the vet said and when i can get her in. i think i'll try another vet if they won't see her until friday.

i can get some goat's milk! i'll pick up some tomorrow.

i'll also try feeding them mush on a plate tomorrow to see how well that goes.

i just checked on her lil bum, the redness has gone away, it's just a lil pink now, still bumpy and peeling though. :(

Any word this morning from a vet? I'm glad to hear her bum is improving. It's the diarrhea that needs to be treated for this kitten to thrive. Hopefully one or the other vet can see her today!

Let us know if they liked the mush!

I was shocked and worried when I just saw the pictures, OMG this is awful!

I'm SURE the A&D has helped, but when you mention peeling? This is rather indicative of burning, if she had diarrhea sitting on her skin for some time, it WILL become raw, just as a baby's butt does.

The water temp should feel the same temp as your arm for baths, however now, it should be slightly cooler to soothe.

A&D and keeping her skin clean of diarrhea is key here to heal her.

Also note, if she has already been seen at a vet, this is what is called a recheck, there is not another charge for another visit!

Only if there are any tests or meds.

You CAN heal her skin if you follow my advice, but green poop is not okay, so this must be dealt with asap.

Green diarrhea is usually coccidia and can also be giardia, but the green is more likely coccidia and needs ponazuril asap.

NOT albon, but ponazuril.

The diff being that albon is very slow to work, for coccidia only, and merely inhibits more growth, but waits for the kittens immune system to rid itself of the current cysts.

Ponazuril is super fast acting, and actually KILLS these cysts. Albon can take a month or a couple months, ponazuril is days, literally.

So be sure to ask for ponazuril.

hey guys, sorry i took so long for an update, but yesterday was just awful...

i worked out a payment plan with the vet and took all three just to get them checked.

the little girl with the butt problems is fine, the vet said i probably did scald her little bum while bathing, but she gave her an ointment that i've been applying and the redness has gone down. her fecal came back negative, but the vet said she didn't appear to have diarrhea, so it must have just been the once or twice i'd seen it.

but they found some abscesses on hershey, and said he'd gotten septic in the days since he finished his antibiotic. they said he was probably in pain and the food he was eating wasn't doing any good. we had the option to put him down out of mercy and since we didn't want him hurting, we took it.

but they said his sisters looked good (aside from harley being burnt) and at least they're okay.

i'm a little heartbroken that hershey didn't make it.

I'm so sorry about Hershey. Did the vet say what caused the abscesses?

I'm glad they gave you a payment plan and you got all of them in. I hope your little gal has no more green diarrhea. Did you tell the vet about it?

yeah, she did a fecal and said nothing looked out of ordinary. she did give me some deworming meds for them tho too.

apparently just being run down. the last time we took him, you know the night that he was shaking and not eating? she said it was possible that he would get septic and not make it. he seemed to be improving for a while, but once he finished his antibiotic it started spreading, i guess.

They look really sweet!

I'm really glad you took them in today.

Let us know how they do in the coming days.

RIP Hershey :)

Call the vet that just saw Harley and euthanized Hershey and ask what to do.

You were just there with the cats so it should be FREE follow-up advice. You should be able to run by and pick up medicine for the cat. ASK if that is what you can do. There should be no need for a vet visit or charges except for medication.

i did call them, but they said they couldn't be able to tell what it is or what to give them without bloodwork and tests and stuff.. :(

i'm pretty sure they'll still charge me for a visit, they do every time.

Ugh. Did you ask if they could take a quick look, and tell them you have no more money?

They did just give her a clean bill of health the other day, right?

Is there another vet in town.  This vet didn't clear it up on the first kitten.  Can it spread to your other cats?  I know you took these kittens in as orphans but where did they come from?  Will that family help with vet expenses?
