Here is the reason why I subscribed
His name is Grizzly. He is a mixed breed (don't know what breeds) and was a 15day old stray when I adopted him. He was found with his siblings crying over their mommy, who was poisoned by a "sorry excuse of a human" and was dead by the time we got to her
I was actually so lucky to have no one to "compete" with in order to adopt him
He is a 100% indoor cat, even if he doesn't fully appreciate it.. So, in order to make him feel more comfrotable I have installed a safety net on the balcony.

Took a full 10hr work to install it properly, but it was totally worth it

That's pretty much all about Grizzly! Feels good to be here and I wish nothing but love and prosperity for our little ones!

Cheers!

Thank you Kitty kisser

Well, jcat also said that he seems unusual not only to Greece.. But when I looked up for "brown cats" on Google, many pics came up, mainly from the US.. So, I am guessing it might be some breed that is mainly reproduced in the States? No idea! LOL

Although, I am thinking of starting a thread in a more appropriate topic, about what breed he might be. I just want to be prepared for any inherited health issues. For the time being he is healthy as an ox

I love your Grizzly bear cat! He is so handsome. I would have adopted him too! The safety net looks awesome! Welcome to the forum :).

Thanks @sarthur2  !! Yeah, the safety net is so worth it! No more getting scared of accidents or sudden drops or anything. Luckily, Grizzly has never fallen off the balcony, but he had managed to fall off the kitchen's window and take a 4 storeys ride down
Fortunately he ended up landing inside the building I live in, so he wasn't lost in the neighbourhood or anything.. (He made it through with a teeny tiny scratch on his leg). But after that I was always terrified that he may fall off the balcony, so I kept the windows shut, during summer.. And summer in Greece can be up to 45-46° C

This happened last year, when I didn't even know that safety nets existed! LOL So, this year I made a targeted research about cat-proofing the exterior and VOILA! Now, Grizzly is all happy and content he's extended his space (which is the whole apartment) and now he happilly urinates in my flower pots..

I can tell he's only a little bit indulged ;).

I hope your flowers don't wilt! But I know cats love plants and dirt.

I know this thread is old now, but I just wanted to say I also have a brown mixed breed kitty!  There are just a few breeds that are brown (Havana Brown, etc.), but a true brown mixed breed cat is pretty rare.  Not as rare as, say, a male calico, but still pretty darn rare!  There is a little information on brown cat genetics on this forum if you go to the Expert Forums and then into the Lyons Genetics section.  You'll see the thread where I asked Dr. Lyons about it.  I was told there was a chance my Grace would grow out of it, but she didn't. She's brown everywhere...whiskers, nose, pads of her feet, etc.  Here's a kitten pic from the day we got her, and a pic of her now.  She's an absolute demon, but we love her!

Oh my God! Oh my God!! OH MY GOD!

She's GORGEOUS!! I am so glad you posted @beckbjj  !!! Do you have any more pics? Is she solid coloured? Her paws are also brown?

She looks a lot like Grizzly when he was a baby.. especially the "fuzzy hair".. But Grizzly had "wrinkly" ears.. Like.. I don't know how to describe them.. Like they were "twisted" and as he grew up they were "straightened"..

I can't believe how beautiful Grace is.. she is a knock-out! She is "darker" than Grizzly.. And her eyes are always yellowish? Or is it just this pic?

Yeah, our babies are pretty rare, to say the least.. @KKoerner  has Cadbury who  is like a twin to Grizzly.. When I saw KKoerner's photo of Cadbury, I was like "who's posting pictures of Grizzly? And where were those taken??" Then I realized that he was a "brother-from-another-mother"! LOL

Grace's coat is so much darker than Grizzly's.. And I can't make out if she has tabby markings - Grizzly does.. Her ears seem "smaller".. If she's a mixed breed, you could've easily fooled me if you said she's a pure Havana Brown..  except for the eyes, maybe.. But the rest of her.. is Havana

I'll check the thread you are talking about. And I hope you don't mind me checking your profile for more pics of Grace??

Thanks again for posting!

Poor Grace and her big "brother" Quincy may be the most photographed kitties on earth!  We have two other cats too, but they are both black and I have a harder time getting pics of them on my cell phone camera, and I'm too lazy to pull out a real camera, so they don't have quite as many pics taken.  She is solid chocolate brown, and she was very fluffy as a kitten so we thought she'd be long haired, but she ended up short haired!  Her eyes are sort of an odd color, kind of a light olive with some yellow tones.  The good portraits (the one in the post above and the one below here) that my husband took are pretty accurate, but in different lighting conditions.

Here's Grace and Quincy, taken when Grace was probably 6 months old:

Here's a portrait my husband took of her when she was about 1 year old:

And finally, just for kicks, here's one from the day after we got her.  I took her to work with me because she had her first vet appointment and it was easier to just keep her with me.
