this is my first cat. so this is my first time even being around a pregnant cat. she has always been a small cat, but the last week or two i saw her gaining weight. thought it was just her finally growing (shes a year and 3 months old, but smaller than my friends cat whos not even a year old, both females) but then about four days ago she came waddling over and i just knew. granted, i asked for this, shes an inside/outside cat that wasnt spayed. so, i have no clue when she conceived. i know she is for sure in her last 3 weeks of pregnancy, shes HUGE. ive been trying to read everything possible to prepare me, but still not sure. so this is her
her belly isnt squishy like it was a few days ago, but its not rock hard. i can feel the fetuses more and more as days pass. ive made a nesting spot for her in one of my drawers (she went there while i had one oulled out a few days ago so i let her have it) her behavior has changed subtly, meows at me until i per her, shes nursed since she was a baby when i got her, she seems to more intently nurses when i pet her. shes also started hopping around the room, not actually hopping. but she will start on my bed where she nurses, then goes to the foot of the bed where she has always slept, then she will go back forth between there and the floor next to my bed. she has NEVER liked to hust lay out on the floor. thinking it may be because its cold, shes black, i live in florida, its july, you do the math. but also wondering if its a sign??
i got her kitten food, both canned and kibble, was told she needs the nutrients from it as well as the kitties do, been giving her a vitamin treat every morning, and got her some flea shampoo for cats of all ages just in case.
im somewhat concerned though about when she is due. i leave next sunday, the 19th for 6 days. i come back the 25th. i live with my parents, so they could be there if i couldnt. but im her human, i wqnt to be there and im sure she would want me during that time as well. so if someone could help me figure out even just a week she may be due, that would be FANTASTIC. by the way, her name is Absinthe, (ab-suh-ninth) and shes the easiest cat ever. spoiled rotten with one hell of a personality.
