I jsut read this book last night, sorry it has nothing to do with cats, but it was such a good read I wanted to share it with everyong.

It was called "TheFive People You Meet In Heaven" by Mitch Albom.

If anyone is looking for a touching book to read, or even a book to give to someone as a gift I recommend this one.

On the sob meter I give it a 8!

Have you read his first book, Tuesdays with Morrie? Another excellent book and a tear jerker. If you liked the second one, definitely read Tuesdays. Incredible story (and it's true).

Neat stuff! I've only read excerpts of Tuesdays..., but am on the look out for it, on the basis of having read Five People... -- what a book! Highly recommended!

Let me just quote a couple of the most telling bits, from the jacket...

"...on his 83rd birthday, Eddie dies in a tragic accident, trying to save a little girl...With his final breath, he feels two small hands in his -- and then nothing. He awakens in the after life, where he learns that heaven is not a lush Garden of Eden, but a place where your earthly life is explained to you by five people who were in it. These people may have been loved ones or distant strangers. Yet each of them changed your path forever..."

...and from the dedication...

"...Everyone has an idea of heaven, as do most religions, and they should all be respected. The version represented here is only a guess, a wish, in some ways, that my uncle, and others like him -- people who felt unimportant here on earth -- realize, finally, how much they mattered and how they were loved."

The actual story I think you have to experience for yourself; to try to sum it up, any more than these couple of quotes do, would be to do it a great disservice.

Do read it. You've seen the book -- it's not long, but it's very moving.
