Hello. I have a small kitten, approximately 10 weeks old. She got vaccinated on Monday. Also on this day, recommended by the vet, we have been giving her a/d food in addition to baby cat from Royal Canin. Before that we had been giving her (vet recommendation) Recovery (but they ran out so said we could give her the aforementioned a/d). Anyway. Tonight she went to use her litter box and I stayed. The poop initially came out normal, but the last bits formed a puddle (it wasn't too much). Questions: could it be the food switch? Could it have something to do with the vaccines? (On Monday I had a similar episode, but when she went again it was completely normal) Despite this, she has been very active and energetic. Also eating well and drinking water.

Hi yes it is very likely the food change as kittens have very sensitive tummies.A/D is also a critical care food like Iams Max Cal or Medi cal.All higher in fat & protein.RC baby cat would be the one I'd be using.has your baby been dewormed yet? i would just keep an eye on it.years ago like 100yr ago they used to sell Puss & boots Canned  Catfood.it was ideal for kittens being very bland & easy on their tummies.Very long time since I had a little one obviously. If it continues i would take a stool sample into your vet to make sure it is not parasites as all kittens are born with them.hugs to your little one.C i have used the RC baby cat for my feral kittens at my fosters i use.they really like it and do well on it.HTH unintentional typos

Today she went again. It was well formed but I noticed that there was a bit of a leftover in her anus, so proceeded to gently wipe it. It was gel like and brown with what looked like a bit of blood (trace). We have been giving her iron and Felovite. Any idea what this could be?

Hi i didn't know what felovite was and basically a vitamin.Your kitten is anemic then being supplemented wit iron? did you have a full blood panel done? Also Like I asked before has she been dewormed?i would have to go back into her history of when you got her what you noticed etc to give you my opinion.Blood is not normal.IMO if your vet is not giving you a diagnosis pls move on to another one.Kittens don't have a whole lot of immunity when young.just what their Momma gave them. And you probably don't know the Momma.Parasites.Viral infections.inflammation in the gut or colon so many things.it is not normal.pls don't let it continue until you get a definite diagnosis of what is going on.Great that you are observing everything. We truly have to be hawk eyes out there with our babes. She is very young and should be be having this.To give iron is fine but you need an answer as to why she needs it.It is not normal to give iron without an actual diagnosis of what the heck is going on.If you have not had BW done I suggest you do & urinalysis.Hugs C And stool examined

Sorry I didn't answer before. Yes, she's been deepened had had a blood panel done and is anaemic. That's the reason for the iron and the Felovite. I asked the vet today. Says it could be that she strained when going this morning due to the fact that she had soft stool last time and the glands were not duly stimulated. Says it's a good sign that she's so active and eating/drinking well. Lastly told me to Keep an eye on her and if it persists to take her in.
