Hi I am to new to this site and seeking advise really. I have a 15 yr old cat named Jessy always been healthy until recently started having utis and passing pieces of tissue which would resolve before I went on holiday 2 weeks ago I stated to my partner that her eyes were very cloudy and dilated huge! We then returned from holiday and noticed that she had gone blind and now has changed in character. She hasn't stopped e+d and her toileting is fine I just don't know what to do as she use to be a very loving cat now it's like she has distanted herself away from us which is very upsetting

The best thing you can do is take her to the vet and have her examined to see what is causing this as soon as possible.  The blindness may be seconary to some serious disease process, and the distancing is also something we see a lot when a cat is very sick.  They hide illness well, but they do distance themselves when sick.

It sounds like she may have high blood pressure which can cause dilated pupils and sudden blindness. I would get her to the vet asap because a lot of times the blindness is reversible if you start Amlodipine right away.

I took her to the vet and the vet said she was at the end stages of her life and was hiding it well other than her sight we had her put to sleep and I am massively heartbroken at this time

Ahh I'm so sorry for your loss, it's heartbreaking! It sounds like you gave her a long happy life, it was best to let her go before she started to suffer! It was the right thing to do.

I suspected it might be something like that, and I'm glad you took her to the  vet and were able to let her go with love.  That is truly the besst thing you could do.  I'm sorry for your loss but glad you gave her a gentle send off after a long life with you.  When you are ready, you may want to write a tribute to her in our Crossing The Bridge forum.
