On Sunday July 5, my gentle giant CT left us.  He was 18 years old.  He had a very rough start in life.  He was a street cat and he adopted us as a a full grown 2 year old cat, but he only weighed 6 pounds.  Over the years we got him healthy, loved him and he became a cherish member  of the family.   We had 4 cats; Oscar (passed away in 2011)  Morris (passed away in 2013) Ct, and Gracie.  My husband, me, and Gracie are missing CT very much.  We are learning to cope with the loss of CT, although I can still feel him in my arms, wanting my full attention.  He always knew when I was having a bad day - he was my "guard cat".  Anyway, Gracie is having the hardest time because she is now on her own.  We are trying to help her through this time, she is very lonely and at night cries for CT.  We are trying to pay more attention to her, talk with her more, take her for walks and car rides, but she is still very sad.  Does anybody have any suggestions as to how we can help her through this.  I knew that cats had feelings but I never realized that they feel grief like humans do.

I'm so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time.

I know how hard it is to watch other pets grieve the loss of a friend who has passed away. My cat was so lost when our dog passed away. They had been together for 6 years, they cuddled together and played with each other. In fact Peaches my cat was born in my house and my dog played mommy to her. Peaches had a hard time and for weeks she would search the house for Abby or sit at the back door waiting for Abby to come in. It took Peaches about a month or more to stop searching for her. It was so sad and I cried every time I knew Peaches was looking for her.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, it is so painful to lose such a beloved member of the family. CT had a wonderful long life, full of love and family, he would never want any of you to remember him with such pain, but to celebrate the time you all spent together. Gracie needs lots of extra love and attention right now, cats hate any change in the family's dynamics, and is feeling lost and unsure of herself. Time is the only thing that helps to soften the agony, and you must try to distract her from dwelling on her loss. Routine is all important to cats so a new routine should be established to help her in her (and your) recovery. I'll pray for you all, may you be blessed for loving so much........ RIP sweet CT, may you comfort your grieving family with their precious memories.

I am truly sorry on your loss of CT. He had a long and happy life, thanks to you and your family. I know that no matter what age our kitties must leave us, it is always too soon. They become a cherished member of our family, and the pain over losing them can be unbearable. I hope one day you can think of CT and smile. You gave him a wonderful life filled with love, and he loved you in return.
I hope Gracie is doing better. Yes, she will mourn CT as well. She loved him and misses him just the same as you do. Just give her lots of hugs and cuddles. Pay extra attention to her as she must be feeling very lonely without her CT.
Praying one day you and your family can smile thinking of CT.
RIP Sweet CT!
You were very much loved and will be remembered forever!
