This is my cat princessa , I've had her for approximately a year now . I found her traped in the apartment where her previous owners used to live . They left her locked in there with no water or food what's so ever ! I immediately got attached to her and took her in as my own . I found her in horrible conditions , I even found her eating her kittens because of how hungry she was . Now she is preganant for the second time and I'm not sure how many weeks along she is , but I think she is due soon , but yet again I'm not sure . I hope someone can help figure out if she is or not , she hasn't had any discharge or anything I've just seem her lick her privates often today and purring excessively . please help

!

.....She looks so much like mine who recently had kittens...Is she an inside, outside cat or both??? Mine is both but the day she went into labor she didn't have much of an appetite and stayed in the whole day and layed in her nest most of the day which was a box in a private and quiet room..j.even just by looking at my cat by the looks I would have guessed she still had a few weeks to go but it was by her actions that day I had a feeling....sorry I couldn't help you anymore..

When did you notice her nipples? Cat pregnancy averages 65 days. We have several links at the top of the forum that you can read to help you prepare. Have you set up a nest for your cat in a private area such as a closet?

Well she was an outside cat but ever since she got pregnant I started bringing her inside so when she had her baby's she would have them inside where I prepared her bed and everything. She eats all day long and sleeps for hours ! I started giving her chicken recently cause she wouldn't get full with her regular cat food . Thanks for your help !!! That is sweet of you to bring her in and feed her lots of good food. She needs that to have healthy kittens and for nursing them after they are born. It sounds as though she is doing well! :)

Make sure you're feeding kitten food to mama cat. She needs the higher nutritional content that kitten food provides, especially because she's nursing such a big litter! They're adorable, congrats! :)

That IS a big litter! Congrats!

Are all seven kittens nursing well?

You may need to rotate the kittens on the nipples so they all get lots of milk. That means if you see a kitten who looks smaller than the rest and is getting pushed away, you would need to move a bgger kitten out of the box for a few minutes and put the small kitten on a nipple so it gets enough milk to grow.

And how is mama kitty doing?

Okay. That is exactly what I am talking about. You have a runt who is not nursing. You need to do two things:

1) remove the biggest kitten for a few minutes and put the runt to a nipple to see if it will nurse

2) go buy kitten formula at Walmart or the pet store (KMR by PetAg). Get the powder in a can. Pick up a 1 or 2 mL syringe at a pharmacy. You need to feed this kitten 1 mL of warm formula every hour until he is strong enough to nurse on his own.

If you do not feed this kitten and get it strong and nursing asap, it will die within a day.

I will next post the correct way to feed a kitten.

To feed a kitten you hold it tummy down with head up the way they feed from mom. You fill the syringe with warm formula and put 1 or 2 drops into the side of the mouth and let the kitten swallow and breathe, then give more slowly until you have given the kitten one full mL. You do not use a needle with the syringe.

You must do this every hour until the kitten can suckle from mama.

Like I said before, you need to keep watch and make sure they are all getting a nipple or they will die.

Mama needs to be spending most of her time right now with her kittens.

Let me know how it goes with your little runt.
