I think I was living above a hoarder.  She has  been moving for awhile now.  She has the same type of apartment that I have, a 750 sq ft one bedroom.  She started with a commercial  moving truck that moved her furniture.  Over about a two week period there were 3 U-Haul truck loads taken out.  When I got home today there was a truck from a self-storage place there.  Now there is a 1 800 Got Junk truck there.  I don't know how she got that much stuff in a one bedroom apartment.

The only hoarders I have see are on TV and I sure hope she's not as bad as them.  They are horrific and disgusting.  I know this is supposed to be some kind of mental issue but still, it just makes me sick and I don't watch more than a few minutes before turning it off.

If she was a hoarder, I hope your landlord gives the place an exceptionally good cleaning! Who knows what could be living under all that mess.

ugh.

I am sure my coworker is a hoarder by the way she talks about certain things, and her cubicle also hints it too

I think she lived there for about nine years, she moved in shortly after me and I have been here 10 years, so they are refurbishing the apartment.  I know 4 years ago they gave us a choice of a large rent increase with a kitchen remodel or a small increase without the remodel.  I took the remodel and she didn't.  Right now they are redoing the kitchen.  I was also told by someone who used to work in a leasing office that in Ohio if someone has lived in an apartment for 7 or more years the carpet has to be replaced so the carpeting will be replaced.

Was the commercial moving vehicle a cube truck or a semi-trailer?

We just moved and it took almost two cube trucks. We came from 1000 sq ft and a basement (2 adults and a teenager) and, with the exception of the teenager's room, never have clutter in our home. In fact, our surroundings are very minimalistic and the basement had mainly holiday items and out of season clothes (because of tiny closets upstairs).

The only furniture we moved was the sofas, our king bed, some shelves, two dressers, two nightstands, and two desks. We didn't even move any of our daughter's furniture. Still, it took almost two trucks and it seemed like the stuff just kept coming! We also got rid of a lot of things beforehand, mainly baby and kid toys we gave to some friends with young children, but also donated a lot of clothes and kitchen items we just didn't want to move.

Have you ever pulled absolutely everything out of a closet? It's mind-boggling how much can be stored in there, but you don't see if until you pull it all out. Your neighbor may have been a hoarder, who knows, but if she had the place well-furnished, and had the cupboards and closets packed, her place wouldn't necessarily look bad. It seems if she were a hoarder, there would have been more junk trucks than moving trucks.

The first truck was a semi.  Then three trips with one of the larger U-Haul trucks, I only seen one when it left and it was full.  The truck from the self-storage place was almost as large as the U-Haul truck.  The junk truck was one of the larger ones and I saw it when  it left and it was full.

The last time I moved I hired Two Men  and a Truck.  All of my stuck was maybe 3/4 of one of their trucks.
