Hello hello! Salutations on this fine Tuesday!

What would be your absolute dream vacation?

If time/money and anything else wouldn't be a factor.

Or If you already had your dream vacation, feel free to tell about it too!

For me, it would just be to travel all over Europe, visit and soak in every bit of history of every era (museums, castles, war memorials, hidden gems etc) and enjoy local cuisine, nature, festivals and ballet performances.

I think mine would be the same except I'd skip the ballet

I would tour ancient ruins around Europe, Israel and maybe Egypt.  Especially ancient Roman ruins!  Pompeii would be a big stop for me!  But I'd also love to see different castles.

Hmm...such a hard (but good) question. There's so much beauty in the world.

For the longest time I wanted to visit St Marks in Venice. I remember studying Monteverdi's 1610 Vespers which were written for that cathedral and being so jealous that my teacher actually got to take part in a performance of them there.

I'm a very bad traveller. If that and health weren't obstacles (as well as money etc), I'd love to visit India - Jaipur particularly fascinates me because of the gemstones, and I'd love to go to an Indian yoga retreat too.

There's also the closer to home ambition of going down to Exmoor to see the herds of wild ponies...maybe even take Collie with me to show her where her mummy and daddy came from.

I guess I don't have a single dream holiday....unless it's a very long dream :lol3:

Let's see, I've been to Spain a couple of times and different cities in Italy including visiting the Vatican.  I would love to have visited Paris, I've heard so much about it.  I will never go on a plane again so I guess this is just a dream. There are just too many things going on with airlines lately, just too many crashes for one reason or another.

There are many trips which fall under that category but I think if I had to pick just one, Japan would be a dream for both myself and my BF.  Both of us are interested in the history, culture, art and gardens/architecture.  And the food obviously.

Maybe, one day.

I've done a lot of travelling. I spent a year in India when I was 18 ~ 19, did a one year working holiday in Australia after I graduated from college then spent a year back packing after I first got married. I think I've been to over 20 countries now.

My dream holiday would be to some of the countries I missed. I'd love to see Iran or Turkey. I haven't been to any African countries so they'd be on my list too. Some of those Eastern European countries such as Romania or The Czech Republic sound really interesting.

Actually pretty much anywhere would be good.

Ireland, followed closely by Scotland. Rick wants to go to Tahiti so badly he can taste it.

A 6 star hotel in a warm country with cool evenings and to be pampered. That would be so nice.

i really don't enjoy traveling. but i'd love to see Cambodia......Angkor Wat, and other older areas like that -- that is, if there's still anything left after the war. my mom and dad lived there for several years, from immediately following their wedding to just before war broke out. i remember seeing slide shows of their time living there, and particularly pics of water buffalo.

now that i think about it, i'd very much like to travel to scotland and see those wild cats that @MServant has been to see. i don't remember the name of those cats off hand.

Angkor Wat is still there. I was there in 2006 and it's still an amazing place to visit.

ahh, i'd love to see it! i'll never see it in person, travel there. but there may be youtube videos or similar of Angkor Wat.

when you were there -- were they still allowing rubbings to be done from the temples? my parents had quite a few rubbings, done prior to the war, from the temples. they were just exquisite.

Visiting that wildlife park and seeing the Scottish wildcats had been a dream of mine for many years.  Felis Sylvetris Sylvestris or European Wildcat:  http://www.scottishwildcats.co.uk/wildcat.html

In John Bradshaw's book 'Cat Sense' they are mentioned and described as the only untameable of the 4 wildcat subspecies and now only found in Scotland, though whether any remain with DNA not crossed with domestic cats is doubtful.  Certainly the protected ones at the wildlife park look and behave pretty much like it.  The females really do look pretty similar to large domestic tabbies other than their tail and the look in their eyes.  The males though, oh boy they are something else, awe inspiring.

It might seem a bit sad and boring but despite how hard it was to see these cats in a confined space I can't think of anything I would love to do more than to go back to see them again - and perhaps combine this with a very comfy cosy cottage in a wild settling where I might just see such a creature in the wild.  I'd have to be there a long time (what a shame, oh I'd have to take Mouse or I'd miss him) as it is extremely rare to achieve this.

I think Australia would be high on the list. I'd also like to go on an Alaskan Cruise, but I don't like the idea of a cruise. :lol3:

We weren't allowed to do rubbings, but we were allowed to climb all over the temples and take photos inside and out. A lot of the souvenir sellers had beautiful copies of rubbings for sale. I remember you could hire bicycles to get around the park. We needed those, we had a three day pass and still didn't get around to see everything. You can do elephant rides and there are loads of monkeys and beautiful wild birds to see.

The nearest town, Siem Reap, has got some great hotels and restaurants and lots of nice little galleries too. Oh, and the Landmine Museum, which was one of the saddest places I visited while I was travelling.
