Read about this yesterday on Truth About Pet Food but didn't see that SC's issued a voluntary recall, thanks for posting.

The rabbit and lamb are safe "for now".  They seem to be adding to the recall list.  This is what was issued on July 3.

The Maryland Department of Agriculture has issued a stop sale order on Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried chicken patties dog food, which has tested positive of Listeria monocytogenes. The lot number is: 111-15. The bags will have a use by date of April 23, 2016.

It was originally just the dog freeze dried chicken patties.  As you can see from the link that I posted which was released today, they have added a lot more products.  I suspect there will be more.

Whether it expands more or not likely depends upon where the source of contamination is and why.

Assuming they find it, and the source is, say, that specific batch of chicken, and their own cleaning procedures are sound, then it may not expand (although it would call into question their spot testing as they already test for listeria).

If they CAN'T find the specific source, then it may expand out of caution. The current list is out of caution, not because anything was detected in batches other than the specific batch of dog food chicken. The other items were probably processed on the same day or something. Cat food was made from the same lot of chicken so that would be the most additional suspect right now.

My suggestion to anyone concerned about possible expansion of the recall would be to hold on to any bags you have right now regardless of lot, but don't feed. It's what I am doing although it is admittedly easier for me because all I have are 3 unopened bags of chicken that were made about 4 months earlier than this lot, and I had stopped feeding it a couple months ago anyway because the cats were getting picky about it. I also have an open bag of Duck Duck Goose that's a little newer, but it didn't really go over well anyway, even mixed, so I have no problem just waiting as since it's already open it might soon be trash anyway because I'm not really sure how long open bags of freeze dried raw are supposed to be usable.

I literally just bought a bag of the chick chick chicken the other day for my foster kittens. I did feed it once before the recall with no problems (Its not part of the recall) but I'm going to hold off on feeding it for awhile until things clear up.

I work at a small, mom-and-pop style pet store and was shocked to find out about this yesterday. I've been feeding Stella and Chewy's for probably just under a year now and have really liked it. Now I'm struggling with what exactly to do, even after the crisis passes. I thought their test-and-hold policy would prevent something like this from happening, but it sounds as if they only test their environment for Listeria, and test the meat itself for other things like E. coli and Salmonella.

Good advice, 2becat: I'll just hold onto what I have right now and wait and see. My bags have lot numbers that are way before the ones being recalled, so I'm probably okay but will be watching this closely as it develops. What I'm uncertain about is what I'll do after, if I continue feeding or not. Most pet food companies seem to have at least one recall, so I'm wondering about giving it a pass this time (depending on the extent of the recall, of course) and if something like this happens again, I'll immediately drop it. But since it was the Maryland Dept. of Ag that caught it after the food was already out -and not Stella and Chewy's- it makes me second guess their safety process...

It is, and so are a lot of others that they are doing as a precautionary recall. Lilabeth has a link in the first post with a list of all the products and their lot number, which are the batches affected. I think everyone feeding S&C should take a look and check the lot number to be on the safe side. :)

Edit: There's also some Q and A below that list that explains a bit more.
