My house has been a MESS for the past 2 weeks!

DH started tiling the floors in the bathroom, foyer, pantry, coat closet, and plans to finish the family room and kitchen by Labor Day.  We have no downstairs bathroom right now, and haven't for over two weeks.  He slipped on a wrench, and broke the old toilet, but not himself, thankfully, so he had to buy a new one. The living room and dining room have the contents of the bathroom, foyer, coat closet and pantry in them. Two weeks ago, we had a bad storm, I came home to a huge puddle on the living room floor, and it ruined that flooring (laminate wood).  Yesterday, he cut out a very large hole in order to see where the leak came from. Even though it's on the ground floor, we still had a ceiling leak. He thinks he's fixed it, but we have to make sure, so I can't put the sofa back yet--which is good, since the new bathroom vanity top is in back of it...

I also have the rest of the new bathroom fixtures in the family room. Classy.

The cats have been walking on the tile in the foyer today, which is not to be walked on yet, as the mortar hasn't dried. Marge moved a few tiles when she walked on them. Oh, and the poor things can't get out to the garage, where the litter boxes are, and the indoor one needs changing (we can go out the back door, through the garage, but we can't keep the garage door up, as the cats could get out).  It's raining, so bringing in un-covered litter---you get the idea!  DH started working before I woke up, or I would've organized all of this in advance. Luckily, I always keep a bunch of Kat-Kit litter pans in the garage for emergencies.

And the ants coming in by the stove are driving me insane! We've tried spraying, vinegar, ant bait traps, to no avail.

Only because we don't have a porch! LOL

That reminds of of a Jeff Foxworthy joke: "If your indoor furniture is now your outdoor furniture, you might be a redneck". At least we haven't sunken that low yet. Yet.

I use to live in NYC, Years ago when they were doing construction next door to my building, I had a terrible problem with ants coming into the apartment from the rooftop walk out  , lots of ants! couldn't figure out where they were coming in and I tried so many things..............the only thing I found that worked was Ortho Home Defense, they sell it at Home Depot. U may have to reapply outdoors every other week at first, but is long lasting depending on weather. I had a serious spider and ant problem and it was under control in a week or two

That would drive me up a wall! At least you know it's a temporary situation. :vibes: that everything's fixed fast.

Thats sounds chaotic!!  My DH keeps wanting to re-do our master bathroom but I keep putting it off.  I really don't like the noise, dust and chaos of remodeling.

Sounds like you will have some beautiful tile floors when it's all done, though!

I'm envisioning a toilet in your living room and (sorry) it makes me chuckle. That was like us when we did our kitchen over. We had huge cartons of cabinets everywhere! In the living room, in the basement, all over the place. We were smacking our hips into corners every time we went through the living room and ended up with a lot of black-and-blue marks on our bodies. Took a couple weeks to get it all straightened out. The cats, OTOH, had a ball with all the boxes.

As for the ants, when I threatened to call the exterminator the other week (and I was perfectly serious), Rick sprayed Home Defense around the perimeter of the house outside as well as around the windows outside. Then he came inside and sprayed at the very backs of the counter tops and along the floor/wall areas. I know that you're not supposed to use HD inside. I also know that, at that point? I didn't care. It worked and worked well. *knock on wood* We kept the cats away from the kitchen until everything dried and they really didn't bother with it. I was desperate. I cannot handle ants in our kitchen. I just can't. Not any place that I prepare food.

Oh my gosh!  It's hard when things are all out of place like that because you can't just sit down and relax like you'd like to!

DH and I painted and installed door moldings and a chair rail in our living room and kitchen/dining area a few years ago.  It felt like we were moving out because we had to move so much stuff.  We got it done over a weekend at least.  But I was in the first trimester with my son; so feeling not the greatest and I couldn't really lay on the couch or anything in the evening.  The furniture was in the middle of the living room all pushed together with the big TV on the couch.  So I couldn't watch TV either!  I was just glad it was done.

I hope things get straightend out better for you soon!  At least to a more manageable level!
