I found a feral kitten that was orphaned at my grandfather's and we made sure the mother wasn't around. It's assumed that her and the litter are dead because of a storm that left this little one. I'm really just curious about the age of the kitten. She has her eyes open, can seem to see a bit, she can hear well and responds to us. She was very small when we found her but is steadily gaining weight with kmr. She loves the pate kmr mixed with royal canin. She's wobbly when walking still but almost pounces now..so I'm not sure. The vets have said 2 and half weeks but it doesn't seem right. She was pretty malnurished when found so going by the weight wouldn't be accurate. I've done a lot of research and she seems to be getting healthy, the vet has said she looks good too so, I don't know. I guess I'm just curious because I want to bring her up to her ages weight

Thank you for helping her!  She would not be able to eat solid food if she were only 2 1/2 weeks - she is more likely older than 4 weeks.  Good wet kitten food will help fatten her up but keep mixing it with the KMR until she's older.  Try to weigh her every day to keep track of her progress.  A regular kitchen scale works, as you can see her gains in ounces.

If she hasn't been bathed, used regular blue Dawn dish soap - it will kill any fleas she may have.  One or two baths should do it, especially if you use a flea comb.

Good luck and keep us pposted!  We love pictures!

The bottle picture is the day we found her and the second picture is yesterday, so about four days apart. :) she's a very happy kitten, she cried a lot the first day and now she hardly makes a noise unless she's hungry. I was thinking 3 and a half or four weeks but I just wanted to be sure. I gave her two baths with the dawn and used the flea comb and she's clean from that. I usually keep her on my chest or neck when I'm home, that's where she mostly falls asleep so she us definitely spoiled. I only leave her alone for about four hours at a time and I'm such a worry wart that I watch her all the time when I am home. She seems very well adapted to our apartment so all is looking good. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can so she can live happy and healthy, she is wonderful so me and my boyfriend def

Oh, what a sweetheart!  She looks like she's wearing a very fetching hat.

And I'd say she's about 4 weeks.  Kudos to you for helping her!

I myself think 3 weeks, as the ears werent developed fully when you found her.   It may be tried with some real food at this age, apparently it went nicely.  Although normally you would wait another week.

Tx for rescuing her!

Yeah I was really concerned about that but she kept biting at the bottle. I have only tried some chunks of food in a saucer with the formuoa once and she loved it but I wanted to keep her on the bottle for a bit longer so I just blended it with the kmr and alternate between that and plain kmr. I do give her some water too but not very much and I boil it before hand. She poops on her own but has only peed on her own once. It's on newspaper, she doesn't seem to like the litter. I mostly have to help her with peeing because she had some worms in her urine but yesterday the vet gave her pill for it so I'm gonna try again today.

Kittens that young might not know about litter, so you'll have to show her.  Make sure you use non-clumping litter for her until she's older as babies that young, like humans, like to put everything in their mouths.

You're doing great!

Thank you guys for the reassurance. I do worry a lot about her. Having to leave her by herself when I work kills me. I do stimulate her before and after meals, I wish there was more consistency to it but she never seems to be in pain or suffering when it doesn't work out. I know she feels a lot better when she can evacuate but it is gonna take some time I suppose. And her name is Stevie (after stevie nicks) because the only music she has liked that we've played so far is fleetwood mac. She starts to pur and will go right to sleep to it :)

New question: she seems to get really hyper after sleeping and just today she has started to bite and climb while meowing constantly. Is this just attention seeking? She has always climbed things, she is getting much better at it. But is it normal for her to meow and not want anything? I trying not to give her much attention for it since she bites me when I try and hold her, but I don't want it to be something medical and me not know

She also wants to be held, so it doesn't seem like she's in pain or anythimg. She seems to be kneading and think her bite is gentle when it really isn't.

She's a baby who's just had a nap, so she's probably got plenty of energy to burn off.

When she bites, hiss and say "no!" loudly and sharply.  Hissing is how her mom and siblings would have taught her her limits.  Like all children, she needs to learn those limits early.

Some kittens and cats may have sensitive areas.  We have a cat who will put her teeth on us if we pet her left flank.  Something there is sensitive or scares her.  She doesn't bite anymore because we trained her out of that.  But if we're not paying attention and hit that spot, she reminds us with teeth.

This will be trial and error for you to learn if she has any sensitive areas.  But the biting can and should be addresed now.

Some kittens will respond to be held tightly (Stefan Z and other wrap them up like burritoes).  See if this helps.  If not, don't force her.  Again, trial and error as you get to know one another.

Do you have a cat tree?  She may enjoy one of those to climb on.  It will also give her an alternative to the furniture.

The kneading is what she would do when she nurses from her mom.  It's also known as "Making bisquits" and "Nom-noming."  Our ten-year-old cats still do that - it's a comforting thing.
