Hi I have a 10 week rescue kitten who was neutered 2 days ago. Initially he was sleepy which was expected. But now he acts like a crazed wild kitten. Running around madly, wild eyed, claws out when you do get your hands on him. He used to sit on my chest and rest or sleep on my chest (very adorable). So could this be still reaction after his op? I read that neutering is supposed to calm them down, not the opposite. Everything else is normal ravenously hungry. Any help or discussion would be greatly appreciated
. Thank you.

It's possible that he could still have some effects from anesthesia and perhaps any pain injection he may have received.

Aside from that, his behavior sounds VERY typical for his age. Kittens go thru a crazy stage between 2-6 months. The fact that he is neutered isn't going to affect this.

When you hear about neutering "calming" a cat down, this is in reference to cats that are typically 8+ months old and their hormones are ramping up. A 10 week old kitten doesn't have these hormones.

I suggest lots of play sessions with him using wand type toys (Da Bird and Neko Flies are a favorite) and possibly a cat tree or two or some wall shelves. Lots of positive outlets for his energy.
