July 4th.  Worst night of the year for pet owners.

I have an 8 pound tortie that I would like to "mellow out" a little pre-fireworks.  I have Rescue Remedy (alcohol-based, not glycerin) and was wondering how much to administer and how long before the fireworks begin?  In food or straight down the gullet?  Adult serving is four (4) drops in water.

Your insight is valued.

You can rub it on the inside of the ear or add to canned food.  I'd start with one drop in the morning and then up it to two drops about 30 mins prior to fireworks.  You have to be careful not to overdo it with the alcohol based one, but I have used it successfully with my cat.
