Hi, everyone. My name is Roland, and I only found this forum tonight. I have a 10 year old cat named Chiyo. She is a very sweet big "kitten." She is a couple of lbs overweight and has always loved to eat. Two weeks ago, instead of "inhaling" her food as we usually does, she left some in th bowl and finished later. This pattern continued all week. She also was breathing faster than normal. We took her to the Vet and she (our vet) found a tumor on her body. We had it removed, and all of her mammary glands were removed as well. The period of time from our noticing Chiyo's change in behavior to the surgery was less than two weeks. Our vet offered to only do a biopsy instead of surgery but we wanted the tumor gone. Now, we are waiting on lab results to find out if it was cancerous, and/or it has spread. Chiyo seems to recovering well from the surgery and is getting her appetite back, tho it is clear she hurts a good bit (surgery was on Monday this week). Her breathing still is a bit strained, too. Obviously, I want her to get better, but I at least hope we have some time left with her. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. I know we can't keep our furry little friends forever, but we are so not ready to let her go. Again, she has not lost weight or had any blood when going to the bathroom. The only two signs something is wrong are her tiredness/heavy breathing and her taking longer than usual to finish meals.

Re: last sentence of my post -- I was referring to her behavior before surgery. Right now, her breathing is still strained, but she is still very sore from her surgery....which may explain her breathing being the way it is.

As it's only been five days since her big surgery, I wouldn't be surprised that Chiyo is still recovering. It sounds like you got her the surgery straight away, and that will be good if it turns out to be cancerous. :vibes: for her continued healing. She obviously has caring owners!
