Has anyone taken their cat to a groomer to help with shedding?  Our cat is a medium hair & sheds like crazy!  We brush him all the time.  I am thinking of taking him to the groomer for a Shed X treatment, but not sure.  Has anyone done this?  Or have any ideas?  Thanks!

Well hello to all @TCS
Oh! This is the first time I have seen such a close shave. ! ! But is this the Shed X Treatment as mentioned in the thread ? I would like to use the shredder that has a large metal rake. But some same it leaves the cat's "coat" uneven and raggedy. Besides my littl' kitty is a fuzz ball with a large amount of under coat downy. She will tolerate brush and comb. But I can not get to her under arms , belly or hind quarters for brushing without a fight. So she got a couple of tangles. Which I detangle by grabbing the fur knot with the left hand and pulling a safety pin through the edges of the knot gradually detangling , until the hair threads are loosened. And the knot gets small enough the comb out.
Now I know, Must comb medium to long hair cats daily, Luv long hair cats Hope this helps

To me, taking cats to the groomer represents such a huge level of stress for the animal that it's simply not worth it. It's not fair to make them go through this purely for our convenience. A good diet helps A LOT with shedding, as well as daily grooming. But if you have pets, you kinda have to accept living with some amount of fur...

We have four cats--two with long hair, one medium and one short hair.  I hear you about the shedding! I've never heard of Shed X, though.

We brush them a lot but I also get them groomed a couple of times a year.  We have a mobile groomer in our area who comes to the house for the grooming--it's more expensive than taking them in somewhere but it's easier on me and on the cats.
