I really don't know where else to put this.I just moved into a new apartment on the 18 and was stupid not to test how strong the screens were. My cat loves to sit by the window. Well I came home today and noticed her food bowl was still full and realized right way she must be missing. The screen has popped open and she must have fallen threw early in the morning. I looked for her for an hr and a half but I couldn't find her. This place has a bunch of shrubs. I don't know what to do. I might never see her again. I always wanted a home full of cats and when I go out on my own I lose her. I don't want kids, just cats. She is microchipped but the address is from my house back in MD. I live in CA now. I feel sick. At the very lest I hope someone kind takes her in. She's such a sweet girl. She doesn't deserve this.

Have you updated the chip information from your place in Maryland? That' the first thing I'd do.

Also make posters with her picture and ask all your neighbors if they have seen her. A reward might help.

Check with animal control in case she has bee picked up and taken to the shelter.

Place food out for her. I used to get my Wesley to come running when I shook a bag of dry food, even though he preferred wet.

You might put some litter from his box around so it smells like home.

Having said all that, my 1 year old tabby Joel disappeared outside as soon as he moved but came home several days later. His Mom Poppy was still there so that may have been a attraction. He took to life inside when the neighborhood blue jays attacked him every time went out. The main thing is: he explored his new surroundings and then came home for food and affection.

You can get screen reinforcements to protect the usual screens. Some if these look s but like baby gates that wedge into the window frame. The other thing you can do is only allow your windows to be open three inches, but this might be too hot.

Good luck!

I was actually looking into changing the chip info before I knew she was missing. I was told I need to know the number or had to bring her into the vet to have her scanned. The chip has the vet's number and the vet has my number so that's something.

I opened a can when I was walking around and was tapping it. She always coming with she hears a can. I left it outside. The thing is there is a lot of people walking around so she might be scared .Also we have sprinklers.

I put the can out and my shirt so she has my smell. I hope she will find her way back by morning.

Oh god. 3 weeks. I don't know if she can live that long on her own. At least she's over weight so it will be some time before she starves.

They somehow manage. Just be preepared for a scared kitty when you do find her. And a visit to the vet is in order.

I really do feel for you.. it's something we all dread and I know that sense of panic.  The worse time it happened to me I found my girl two days later under a bush in the next block.  I had walked past her so many times, calling.  You really have to look.. everywhere..

Have a look through this article and see if anything helps.

I hope you can also keep calling all the animal shelters in your area in the morning and late afternoon. Just in case she ends up in one and they don't scan for her microchip. I really hope she comes back home when you happen to be outside to see her. Wishing you good luck!

I walked all around the apartment community and talked to 16 different people. No one has seen a cat. I think I will try calling the shelters. I wonder it they will be open on the 4th of July weekend?

Have you found your cat? I would check regularly with the neighbors in case your cat came around recently or one of them that you didn't talk to took your cat in thinking she's a stray. I hope you found your cat!! :vibes:

No ,I still haven't found her. I'm really hoping someone took her in since it's the 4th. I walk around each after noon and talk to people. So far people have only seen an orange cat.
