Outdoor cats need to be treated for ticks. I bought advantage 2 which is just for fleas & not ticks. I have found 4 ticks on me in the past month & have been on antibiotics becauSe of it.
I don't want to risk getting sick so I need to treat the kitties. I have read that frontline doesn't work & they don't seem to make anything for tick control, everything is just for fleas. Revolution seems to be great too but neither does that treat ticks.
I can really use any advice anyone has to offer. Thank you so much!

If you comb your cats through with a flea comb, you will catch any ticks that might be riding on them.  Most of the medications that kill ticks can also kill some cats and ticks are not usually a problem for cats because they groom so well that ticks don't get a chance to attach to them like they do dogs.  They can still ride in from the outside on them, however, but no topical will prevent that.  Just flea combing will do that, however.  Have a bowl of water with some dish soap in it to break the surface tension, and any tick you comb out, or any flea, can be flicked out of the comb into the water and will sink and drown.  Personally I have never found a tick on any of my inside/outside cats, but I have found some on my clothing when I come in from being in the woods!

My cats pick up deer ticks. They are treated regularly with Frontline, but they still pick up ticks now and then. If you put a tiny drop of the flea/tick medication directly onto the tick it will die and drop off intact. You can pull them off with tweezers, but I worry about leaving the mouth parts in the cat so I don't like doing that.

Frontline Plus has worked well for my cats with regard to ticks. Once my feral had two large ticks stuck to his forehead, but within a few days, they become engorged and simply fell off. It's very tricky to remove them the right way without causing worse problems, so it's often better just to allow them to fall off on their own. This is not a problem if your cats are well-nourished.  You might want to try the Frontline Plus--you can buy it for a third of retail cost on Amazon.
