One of my 14-week-old kittens has what looks like a small lesion on his chin. At first it just looked like a gravy stain on his fur and I thought that's what it was - he's a messy eater! - but on closer inspection the skin looks a little red and inflamed (although not swollen) around it. He doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort - he doesn't scratch it or try to lick it, and he doesn't mind it being touched, but it's been there a few days and doesn't seem to be going away. He's eating normally, toileting normally and behaving the same as he ever has. Thing is it looks sore. I've done a lot of Googling and I'm still not sure what it could be, because most of the things I find assume the sore would be bleeding or that the cat would be scratching it excessively, and neither of those things apply. The best suggestion I've had is to switch from plastic food bowls to something else, but I'd like to know what, if anything, to do about this "sore". Am I just being paranoid about nothing, or should I be running to the vet? Has anybody got any idea what it could be?
