For those of us who live in the US, do you have any plans for the 4th of July? Any picnics? Fireworks displays? Anything going on?

We're going to my sister's for a family picnic. Her community always has really nice fireworks at dusk. It usually lasts for about 45 minutes. It works out perfectly. We go there for dinner and we have our parking on their property. We can see everything from their front porch, so around dusk, we'll grab all the lawn chairs, a couple bottles of mint wine and hit the porch. Then after it's all over, we wait until everybody else hits the roads and gets out of town. Then we leave. It's such a nice night and we get a chance to spend some time together.

On Sunday, we're going out on Rick's BIL's boat for a picnic/fishing kind of thing. Rick's sister turns 68 this month and her DH wanted to do something a little special. Their daughter's family is coming in, too, so we'll get to spend some time with their little boy and their new baby. I talked to Rick's mother and she wants to go along (but not on the boat).

We need some time to do nothing but relax. We're looking forward to this weekend.

What are you doing?

We're planning on staying home and taking it easy.  We might grill some hamburgers and hot dogs--haven't decided yet.  We don't plan to travel as we don't like being on the highways during a major holiday weekend.  There are just too many kooks and drivers that are texting while driving, out there.

Normally my sister hosts the 4th of july BBQ with fireworks. This year she's going to a friend's instead.

I have no plans, but binge-watch Dexter. My mom lent me her collection, lol

Quiet 4th here.

We're seeing my siblings on Friday instead, so that we can avoid the holiday traffic.  Probably still will be a slow ride, but certainly better than later on that day or on the 4th.

Saturday, we'll be home hanging out.  I assume we'll BBQ.  Fireworks are being set off in our town, so we'll walk over.  It's less than a mile, so not bad at all.

We have a couple BBQs to attend.  One for my step-dad and some family will be in town.  The other is at my friend's mothers.  My friend lives out of state but will be in town for a visit.  So we are planning to put in an appearance there.

We will do fireworks if the weather holds out. They keep changing our forecast.  DH won't mind if we miss; but the kids and I will!

probably just staying at home, since we don't like to travel on holiday weekends, and grilling a steak for dinner. July 4th is a sad day for us because it's the day that my BJ went to Rainbow Bridge. We always think of him but especially on July 4. But if we didn't lose him we wouldn't have Angel, since she adopted us a few weeks after we lost BJ.

Anyway, a quiet 4th of July, unless someone invites us to a bbq - close to home!!

Probably don't need to work the full day but we'll see. After that it might be Mom's house for dinner. Then the Boston Pops concert on tv
The next town over has fireworks display on Sunday night which I can see from my building.

If I still lived in my old apartment, I would be sitting on my balcony watching the fireworks from three towns at once. Alas, I have moved so don't know what I'll be able to see and have no way to get to the local firework show [emoji]128546[/emoji]. However judging from all the booms I've already heard, I will probably be home comforting Paul and Chula who will be cowering under the bed.
