Calling "Here kitty, kitty!"
The white part of my cat Rascal's eye, the outside feral cat that I gentled, has remained farther out than usual for the last few weeks. I am concerned, especially today when I noticed that she had something dark in the corner of her eye. I'm not sure if it's a foreign object, or if it's an infection. Do you have any tips on how I can help her without taking her to the vet?

I tried to take pictures, but she won't sit still...
This picture makes her look chubby but she's actually a very small cat who doesn't put on weight

I'm sorry but the picture is too out of focus to say much. I'm afraid eye issues should be dealt with by a veterinarian. Why not take her to the vet? If it's a question of how to get a semi-feral cat to the vet, maybe some of our experts on feral cat care will be able to help?

I would always take a cat with an eye issue to the vet - eyes and respiratory issues are two things I never take chances with. If you've tamed her then getting her in the carrier shouldn't be too much of a problem. I've had to get the tame(ish) semi feral I care for to the vet a few times - I warn the vet that she's semi feral when I make the appointment, and there's never been an issue. She's never held it against me, either...cats always know when you're trying to help them, even if they do sometimes have funny ways of showing it
