WARNING, I cannot in any way make this a short story
we have cat 1 - lola the tortoise
and cat 2 - maru - nicknamed - meeweez (silly iknow) the siamese
and my mother in laws cat name is Misha
when i was 16 my old cat died, I have never, like ever, since the day i was born, lived without a cat, so i got a new one... not to replace the old one but to open a new chapter in my life, yes, I see my cats as chapters of my life, all important, and none work without the other. the new kitty was lola, she was a stary that was fed by a few people and only was fed spaghetti and such. she walked after me when i looked at her so i took her home. at the time my mother didnt have enough money to neuter her so she got 1 nest, but all these babies got a home...
so when I turned 18 I moved abroad and started living with this guy I loved.
Now i have married him. But since I couldn't take lola along with i moved abroad, she had to wait at my mothers house, I swaer she is coming to me, and she is. within a 2 or 3 onths, she had to wait 1 year (yes I am 19)
Now my hubbies family is horrible with animals, they have a dog, its healthy and happy and great and wonderfull, they also had a siamese cat, they put her in the basement, didn't feed her, called her ugly, let her sit in her own piss and ****, didn't show her daylight and it was always noisy in this house, there were loads of children and 2 adults, one of them who drunk too much, he was the uncle of my hubsband.
so one day, this kid came at me, and looked at the cat and said "LOOK I THINK ITS DYING" so I told the uncle to take the poor cat to the vet. his answer was a shrug and than he said "its too late anyways, let the ugly cat go, it likes it there"
At the moment I had to go so I went home with my husband to his parents house.
a month later my husband came home with that cat because I told him many times that he needs to knock some sense into those people as I do not speak spanish and they all do.
Maru was starved and dehydrated, she would let out a painfull meow when you'd try to pick her up. so since she was too weak to be carried arround more outside in the cold (it was winter)
I put her in a blanket and let her eat little bits of food so she wouldnt over eat herself until she was better again, when i could pick her up again i washed her a few times
where i was, guess what, this cat has never been in contact with water but it was so gratefull for me taking care of her that she didn't even complain, just 2 or 3 meows. Now that the piss and feces was off of her i dried her. she was actually a very sweet cat, likes to be petted and all.
In the present she has gained weight and finally is more healthy, (I used a picture of her as my profile picture)
but she has met my husbands mom cat once,
she hissed and crawled up into a ball in the corner
while the other cat of my mother in law was being very playfull, it approached her and have maru a smack of the head and than run but stopped away waiting for maru to chase her.
maru however was so terrified she tought she was being attacked, she pissed herself from fear on the stop and growled as loud as she could.
so we kept the seperate for a while letting them sniff trough the cracks of the door.
Misha was very curious but as soon as meeweez would even smell misha she would growl and get pissed and bite if you'd try to get close to her. (eventough we were stuck in a small bedroom)
now its been like 3 months.
maru does not adapt to misha and misha doesn't adapt to maru as she just sees it asa game (shes like 2 years old maybe?, maru's age is unknown)
so maru is gonna get a chance to finally go to the vet soon as shes of normal weight again and can easily take on a few germs with her new healthier immunesystem.
but now the problem
lola, I will not abandom my lola who opened a new chapter in my life, she is coming
lola is older and more calm than misha
but I fear maru is not going to adapt to her either
maru really likes sunbathing at the balcony since its warm
But I can't just leave her out the 24/7 all year as it will be too cold
I have followed the steps of making them smell - see and than touch.
it doesn't change maru
she is still terriefied of other cats.
currently since I am still going trough legalisation and my moneys home is online only in paypal
i cant send her to a shelter
to be honest
it would break my heart
maru IS a problem cat, a sweet problem cat but she doesnt liek cats, dogs, strangers and children, she doesnt like anyone except me and my husband as she sees us a saviors.
sending her to the shelter means putting her down.
I wont.
when I was young I learned one thing
If you buy it
you're stuck with it
there is no return receip and if you even think about returning her you must be a bad person to mess with an animals heart that way
its what my mother taught me.
please
give me tips
its not like I was maru to play with the other cats but to tolerate them would be great
lola will be here in a few months
if she doesn't adjust at all there is a problem...
and also because misha has to stay over here because they had to fumigate the parents house.
but thats only temporarily.
