So my boy Akua was fed a flea diet when we first got him (I believe science diet) that gave him constant gas and belly rumbles. When we switched him to Blue Buffalo his gas stopped and it's only occasional but his belly rumbles a bit still.
Thankfully he has been doing good on Blue until recently. He is having some darkish green loose stools which do hold a form after they sit in the litter box for a few minutes prior to be cleaning it up (gross I'm sorry!) and is taking him a bit longer to eat his food. He'll eat some then walk away then play and come back to eat but I can't leave his wet with dry out for as long as he wants to! We thought he was starting to get bored with the food and his tummy wasn't taking it well so we tried slowly switching him to a different flavor of Blue canned to mix with his dry. The other kitten flavor available besides the chicken one he eats was salmon and when he tried a bit of it today he ate all his food in one sitting! Even licked the bowl clean!! I wanted to know if I could keep switching between salmon and chicken at least once a month to keep his food varied?
I heard that salmon cat food is bad for them so I'm not too sure. The cans are 3 oz and I make sure to get a good amount of wet in there with his dry since we unfortunately can't afford an only wet diet at the moment (I'd give him raw in a heartbeat if I could). I wanted to know if I should stop and find another flavor that doesn't have fish? I was told by my vet that he doesn't need kitten formulated food anymore (don't trust him too much since he recommended me Science Diet and I've heard plenty horror stories of that brand along with Royal Canin). So in case he doesn't need it anymore can I go ahead and try giving him adult canned with his kitten dry and switch him to full adult food when I finish the bag? Sorry I keep changing topic but I'm mostly concerned about him getting bored with the chicken recipe and me not being able to give him different varieties because Blue only has 2 kitten formulated cans. Sooooo, is a couple of cans of salmon made for kittens ok for my boy to eat to vary his diet or should I start looking at adult food/ other brands?
Sorry for the long post I'm new here, thank you in advance xx.
