I am devastated as we took our kitten to the vet as she was constipated and her anus looked sore. She had deformed legs but was happy and moving around despite her deformity. The vet was keen to recommend euthanasia and we succumbed and now my wife and I are devastated and feel we acted in haste. The kitten was not in pain to my knowledge. I hope that other will learn from our pain.

We should have persevered and taken her back home. We were happy to keep and love her, The vet said that she thought that the kitten might have neurological issues but in hindsight this was pure speculation, I wish that I had been stronger

I'm so sorry that you and your wife are going through this. It is bad enough to lose a kitten, much less to feel guilty about it. You are not to blame - you listened to your vet who presumably had the best interests of your kitten at heart. I would probably do the same thing, thinking the vet knew best. Hopefully you can find some comfort in knowing you gave your kitten a good life. Again, I am so sorry for your grief.

Every person who has ever euthanized a beloved pet has agonized over that decision after the fact, EVEN if they were in pain. "did I wait too long?" , "was it too soon?", "did I really need to do it?.   It's just a fact of life.  We all question ourselves afterwards
  But most of DO rely on our Vets to help us with the decisions we make for our furkids...they are the experts afterall.

 I know your are devastated, but try not to beat yourself up

My sincere sympathies for your loss

I also, when I was younger and knew less about cats than I do now, had a couple euthanized, that I shouldn't have.  Hindsight can be a devilish thing.  Please try not to bet yourselves up, you were following the vet's advice.  {{{{{{{{{HUGGSSS}}}}}}}
