As I had posted a few weeks back he'd gotten a bloody nose but he seemed to be just fine from that. Vet said he was a-ok.

Now tonight, One second he's perfectly fine. I leave the room and come back and his back legs are soaked up past his hips and groin and he's dragging them behind him like he can't use them?

I'm incredibly confused and the animal hospital I go to isn't open on the weekends ;w;

Help!

He's also breathing kinda heavy and seems to be 'freaking out' but he's nursing okay? And eating ab it of food.

I think you need to find an emergency vet ASAP. I've no idea what could be wrong, but it doesn't sound good. It may be related to the squashing incident, but I just don't know. I haven't any experience of such young kittens myself. Hope he's ok :vibes:

StefanZ StefanZ @catwoman707 do you have any ideas?

I think you should take him to the vet. Google 24hr emergency vets in your area and see which ones are available. It could be nerve damage, but without getting him checked over by the vet there is no way of knowing for sure.

Sounds serious.  The vet will decide if its possible to hang on, or if its better to pts.  As my guess go.

No common condition, but reminds me of broken backbone or trombosis.   If it is a trombosis or "just" a blow to the backbone, without severing the nerves, just shocking them,  it may perhaps retreat and heal into normal...   Anyways, surely a vet errand for a skilled vet.

What exactly is he soiled with?  Blood or his eliminations?

I'm not entirely sure! I want to say maybe he dipped into the shallow water bowl but I'm just not sure. There was no color or smell to the liquid at all. I live in the middle of nowhere and I'm not finding a vet near by when I search but I'll keep looking! Thank you for the vibes everyone. He's retreated to my blanket and I've put him into the large kennel wrapped in it so he doesn't get trampled. Been checking on him and he's just sleeping and sleeping. Mom came and sat on him a few times :/ Normally she does that when she's trying to feed him. He tried to eat a little but when she got up he sort of just let himself slowly sink into the blanket and went back to sleep, normally food time gets him very energized!

I went to upwap to check on him curled up in his little blanket cubbie and he had passed away... I'm just in complete shock right now. I have never had something like this happen before. And so sudden when he seemed so healthy. He had barely started acting like a cat would, playing and such. My heart hurts >:

I'm so, so sorry. These things happen sometimes. There's nothing you could have done. His time was short, but he knew he was loved.

:rbheart: Rest in peace little one :rbheart:

Thank you Columbine. I kept him near me and warm and kept petting him to keep him calm. He was asleep when he passed, I'm sure of that. I've never had one go like that.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It happened so quickly, I don't think there is anything a vet could have done. Poor little guy. Big hug for you and his Mom.

I'm thinking it had to have been something he already had that went undetected. So you're probably right that I couldn't have done anything. It still is just very upsetting.

Im so sorry.  I did had some hope it could perhaps retreat by itself..  And death in a healthy kitten is always shocking, its always bad...

You couldnt do anything more than you did.

RIP  little one!

The TCS team would like you to know that we are so very sorry for your loss.   It is always hard when they are so young but this little one had the good fortune to know both the love of his cat momma and his human guardian in his short time with you.  May his momma cat settle and keep well in your care.

As a sign of respect, threads are locked after someone has suffered a loss like this.   We invite you to place a tribute at - http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge  as an enduring testimony to this kitten.

  RIP little one.

This thread is now locked.
