In November I had to have surgery on my knee for something that was torn in it. I was starting to fall down allot. The surgery did not go as planned and the wound became infected. I had to have 3 more surgeries since then to try to scrape the infected tissue out and flush the knee with cleaners.I came close to dying one night in the hospital. The doctors are not exactly sure what kind of infection it is, but they think it is a staph infection. They have me on some really strong antibiotics. My body is just not responding like it should. I just got out of the hospital a few days ago and I will be on IV's for six more weeks.I could not stay at the hospital any longer because our insurance would not let me. I am still fighting to save the leg. My husband has had to take off work to take care of me. I can't walk or even move the leg. I could really use some board magic, I have been out of work for quite some time and these medical bills are really going to hurt. I am working so hard to get some of the use of my leg back, but the pain is so terrible. If anyone can spare a prayer I sure could use it to help me get back on my feet.

Poor you! I can certainly spare a prayer - virtually the same thing happened to a friend and former colleague in 2002. It was a really difficult time - he was hospitalized for 9 months, and there were many times when it looked like he was going to lose the fight. I'm glad to report that he is doing really well now - a miracle to his family and friends. Hang in there! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well in the end for you.

Years ago I got a staph infection in my leg. It was pretty nasty and to this day the area that was infected is completely numb. I finally ended up contacting a holistic practitioner and she put me on about 8 different things to beef up my immune system and it finally got better. I remember the pain all to well, you have my sympathy and all my prayers!

Shame on insurance companies for forcing you to leave the hospital early. I despise health insurance companies more each day (have to deal with them frequently in my job).
I pray that you are finally on the mend and recover completely.
As for your medical bills. . . . perhaps you can work out a payment schedule with your hospital. The hospital that I work for allows patients to pay what they can afford on a monthly basis (I had to do this with some of my own bills). Ask if they have a Patient Financial Assistance program.
