Frequent hair ball regurgitation

Our ct is bringing up hairballs during the night (sometimes every two or three days. They are accompanied by a very dark liquid which seems to be a new phenomenon. Whether  related or not, she seems to be ignoring her new (uncovered, as it has been) hatbox and urinating on the tile floor next to it.

Any connection that anyone can think of? fluid color concerns?

You need to get her to a vet. Frequent hairballs can be a sign of IBD. If left untreated IBD can cause permenant damage, so it's best to get these things checked early.

Suddenly urinating outside the box is one of the primary signs of a UTI. Whenever a cat stops using the box a vet visit is called for - its important to rule out possible medical issues.
