Hi all! I'm new here and I have a question.

I have two twin cats, born 2/12/14. They are both girls and are American-Korat mixed, so they're rather small only about 7-8pounds. My question is when is a good estimate for they heat cycle to start? I thought it should've started by now but neither of them has had one yet.

Also, one keeps peeing everywhere which is unusual. I figured this is a UTI and needs to get to the vet?

Thanks so much!

Some kitties, especially young cats have what is know as silent heats.  They don't do the traditional calling.  Peeing everywhere could be a UTI it could also be caused by being in heat.  A kitty in heat will leave small amounts of urine everywhere to advertise that they are in heat.

Is there some reason why you haven't gotten them spayed?

So they're about 4 1/2 months old? It'll probably start soon if it hasn't already. 5-6 months is the average age for a first heat, but it can be anywhere from under 4 months to over a year.

Ah.. That might be why. I never knew they could be silent. The one will moan a lot about once a month or so, maybe that's hers. But this one may be different, how interesting! :)

Also, I do not like having animals spayed or neutered because I certainly would not like having that done to myself so why should I have it done to my beloved kitties? I mean it may keep some sorts of health issues and cancers, but I'd rather not rip motherhood away if we decided to have anything in the future.

Momto3cats, they were born last year so they are roughly 1y 4 months old.
