hey all! i'm new to this site so bear with me if you would :')

i just found this bump on my ginger tabby cat Riley's bottom lip today and it looks very similar to a cold sore but i'm not entirely sure what it is. he doesn't seem to be showing any signs of discomfort but he is the light of my life, and if there's any chance it's something serious than I would rather know as soon as possible.

it could very well be an insect bite or even just him chewing food strangely, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

thank you for any info you can provide!! hope you're all having a lovely friday night with your furry cuddle buddies!!

Sometimes cats get "Cat Acne", although I don't know if this is it or not. It seems to be a reaction to plastics that causes irritation and zits on cats, although I have never seen it on any of my cats. Hopefully someone will chime in!  It doesn't look serious but if it lasts for more than a week or two I would mention it to my vet.

Does she rub her fact against anything with a sharp edge when she does her scenting/marking? My cat constantly rubs hers on the corner of an upper cabinet in the bathroom and her chin always looks kind of red. Otherwise, as the other posted mentioned, it could something simple as a blemish. I'd watch it for a week or so and if it doesn't go away get it checked.

You are a good cat mom!

I have a Bengal that seems to have sensitive skin. The first time I noticed it she was licking it constantly so I took her to the vet. The vet gave me a salve to put on it and it went away. Occasionally it comes back but I figure as long as she's not sick and it does go away it's not worth the expense of a vet. On Lillie (the Bengal) it looks like eczema so maybe she's allergic to the litter or the crystals in the litter. I'd say just watch it and as long as it doesn't get bigger or the skin isn't broken I wouldn't worry about it.
