i returned a cat 3 months ago. i had him for less than 24 hours, but then i had to return it. should i tell the shelter honestly that i returned the cat?

i want to adopt again. please don't ask me the reason for returning the cat. i just want to know if its possible for the shelter to find out later that i once had a cat for a day that i had officially adopted from another shelter/rescue group in the area.

I definitely wouldn't lie to them. I know the shelter I applied to had some stipulation in the application that says something about if you lie on it they can take the cat back.

If you returned the cat for a good reason, or it was long ago most shelters aren't too concerned that you returned a cat. If it was for a bad reason, it might be a good idea to explain the mindset you were in then and how your mindset differs now to set them at ease. Being returned to a shelter is stressful for a cat. The cat I own now was returned twice. When we put him back in his carrier to go to the vet he was freaking out not wanting to go, possibly due to the fact he thought he was being returned. Shelters don't like doing this to an animal.
