I thought I'd start a thread to share pics of my 2 gorgeous rescutes. :)

First of all, their stories:

Schrödinger (named after the austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger, famous for his theoretical  experiment involving a cat) is a seal point siamese, adopted through a rescue network at about 7-10 months of age. He was living on the street and was in very poor condition, with awful fleas, ear mites, an infected wound in the mouth... He also had a horrible obsession with food, agressively biting our fingers if they smelled like food, licking the kitchen floor and counter, and even eating sponges that we used for the dishes and plastic trash can bags... He probably starved on the street, so any chance he had to get food he went for it at all costs. Today he's a handsome and well balanced boy, he's really come a long way.

Shunso (named after japanese artist Hishida Shunso, famous for his cat paintings) is a mystery kitty, probably a siamese/snowshoe mix, that started off as a foster of mine and that I recently adopted because he was the perfect fit to join my gang of fur monsters. He was rescued from the streets by a shelter and had to stay there in a cage for over a year as he had very bad skin issues (was almost hairless when they found him, probably why he was abandonned) and fleas. During this time he became obese, and also broke all of his front teeth chewing on the cage bars... He then went to a first foster home who didn't keep him long because he is very LOUD and likes to meow at night (currently working on that...). So he came to me. He's lost a lot of weight but we are still working through his midnight yowling issues. Apart from that he's a real snugglebug!

Sadly they are both FeLV positive, but I am hoping they will be with me for many years.

On to pictures! Enjoy! :D

(Here with my corgi Sun, who is also a rescue.)

Those are great pictures of your very handsome boys. I especially like the ones in the car tree. And your Corgi is very cute!

It was so kind of you to rescue your kitties - they really needed you and you obviously came through for them in a big way. They look so healthy and happy!

Beautiful pictures and beautiful cats. (The dog is lovely too.)

I've always thought Schrodinger would be a great name for a cat. I'm sorry to hear they are both FeLV positive. They look so healthy, I think with all the love and care you must lavish on them they'll be around for a while yet. I've just taken in a kitten who is FIV positive. It's good to give these little ones a chance they wouldn't otherwise have had.

They are SOOOO beautiful! Oh my goodness!! Their names suit their beauty too. :bigthumb: Thank you very much for taking them in and giving them a good life filled with great love and a chance that they would have not had otherwise. Bless your heart for doing so. I hope they live a long and healthy life with you and stay well. Keep us updated too!:wavey:

Thank you both for your kind comments! I love my gorgeous bad boys.

I try not think if their sickness too much as it makes me a bit sad... But I've heard of cats living a full, long life without ever showing signs of FeLV despite being positive.

So fingers crossed!!They are both raw fed and live a healthy life, so it's really all I can do for them.

I found out Schrody was FeLV positive after I got him, so since then I only fostered cats who were also positive (there are quite a few around here sadly) and it only made sense that I adopted one that was positive as well when I decided to get a second cat. Both are FIV negative luckily!

How wonderful that you have taken in the two gorgeous, special boys! If only there were lots more like you.

We have a 4 1/2 yr old snowshoe/siamese in our rescue that is also FeLV pos. We'vr had her since she was 6 wks old. Despite her looks and the fact that she is completely sumptoms free (and has been) we've had no serious inquires about adopting her. So, she stays with our rescue (we're cageless) and we spoil her as much as possible!

They are both very beautiful!!!!

They look very happy so I'm sure that will help with their FeLV. I too love the cat tree.

Excellent photos of beautiful animals..

I love them all but the three of them together is just delightful.  Apart from my obvious love of cats, I've always had a soft spot for corgis as I grew up with one.   He was best mates with our Tabby, Fred.

Stunningly gorgeous kitties! I love the word "rescutes" - such a perfect description for so many of my furkids, too! I've heard of SO many FeLV positive kitties who have never shown any symptoms, and have lived very long, healthy lives that I think you have a good chance of just that. You're taking such excellent care of these handsome boys, both physically and emotionally, and that will stand them in good stead. I can't believe that either of them had a rough start, looking at how clearly healthy they are now! You've done an awesome job with them. I wish there were millions more like you - we wouldn't have a euthanasia problem then, would we?

Your dog is precious, too, and it made me smile to hear that they all get along well. I have always had dogs and cats, often with foster cats and kittens, too, and have enjoyed seeing the bonds develop between the canines and felines. It is so funny to see a couple of cats curled up with one of my big dogs on his bed, forcing him to hang some significant part of himself off his own bed!

Keep enjoying your fine furkids during the hot weather, and try to stay cool!
