I came across this site a couple of days ago while searching for more info about hepatic lipidosis.  My sweet 6 year old girl, Crimmie, is suffering from FHL.  She has seen the vet and we are attempting assisted feeding with a syringe, Hills a/d.  She takes it like a true woman lol  He tolerates it, but swears at me with her eyes all day

...with the cats...
hi and welcome to TCS (The Cat Site)!

i'm so sorry your crimmie is suffering from FHL. i'm glad she's doing okay with the syringe feeding, and with her litter box habits.

i'm glad you found helpful info here. i don't have experience with FHL, but there are members who do have experience in this area. that's great that you were able to learn how to assist feed, and about which syringes work best.

we're here if you have any questions, or need support while your crimmie is being treated for FHL.

crimmie and doug are beautiful cats! who is who in your pic? is crimmie the grey tabby?

I'm sorry your crimmie is unwell but am glad you're able to keep it under control. I don't know what FHL is but I know all these diseases are pretty lousy.
I love tabbies.

One of my kitties had it 4 1/2 years ago as a result of undiagnosed IBD.  He had a feeding tube which made things much easier because he was very difficult to impossible to syringe feed.  I think a supplement called Denamarin really helped my kitty, that is something you could ask your vet about.

Yes, I was wondering if you were adding any type of liver supplements to Crimmie's food.  It's a lot easier when you are assist feeding, since some items can be added right into the food going into the syringe,  although the Denamarin is not supposed to be crushed.  But there are other things you can add, like Milk Thistle and Vitamin E.  Our Vet said to add 1/4 of a 100 iu capsule daily to our girl's food for liver issues.  She doesn't have HL, so with HL, maybe more is better?   Something you could ask your Vet.

Do you know what caused her HL in the first place.  That, of course, needs to be addressed too, so it doesn't happen over and over.
