I am new here and to having an indoor cat, and was wondering if I could use the Natural Chemistry Natural Flea & Tick Shampoo for dogs on my kitten? I know there are chemicals in some dog shampoos that hurt cats, but this says all natural so I thought maybe it would be bad? *I have not used it on the cat yet, I am just checking before using it*

Is this not going ot be answered? The cat has fleas really bad. I need to know if i can use dog shampoo on him or not. I have tried drops, powder, and collars. Nothing is working. He still has fleas. If I dont get an answer soon, im just going ot go with yes and use it on him.

I don't know anything particular about this shampoo, but I wouldn't recommend it. When you use flea shampoo, even the kind made for a cat on a cat it can be very dangerous and toxic. I would recommend just washing the cat with Dawn dish soap and then making sure to vacuum and wash blankets and bedding the cat has been in contact with. A flea comb might also be a good option.

I do not suggest using the dog shampoo on your kitten.

The safest thing to bath a cat/kitten in to kill fleas is Original Dawn (the blue one). But, this will only kill the adult fleas.

What type of topical flea medications have you used on him? How frequently have they been applied?

Dog flea/tick shampoo is a bad idea for cats and kittens - especially as there are some ingredients that are safe for killing fleas on dogs, but which are toxic to cats. A non medicated shampoo marked as safe for cats and dogs is fine, but if you want to use a flea shampoo it has to be cat safe. A cat flea/tick shampoo would likely be safe for dogs though.

I agree with everyone so far. I would not use that shampoo on a kitten. Use a flea comb and put the fleas in a dish of water with Dawn dish liquid in it to kill them. Dawn is also safe to use on the kitten. it is used on wildlife after oil spills and such. You can find cat shampoos on Amazon and in pet stores if you want to go that route
